We are now in that time of year when larger pressures from society threaten to make many of us a little more nuts than usual. In many parts of the world “Holiday Season” puts the pressure on to spend on others (but still, no pressure, right? It’s the thought that counts — just make sure you think to spend enough, and spend it on the right thing, and spend it on time — no pressure!). Even if you aren’t a participant in that whole process and are successfully resisting it, there’s the additional squeeze many of us face with “year-end.” Even if you aren’t hard at work for a major corporation, there is more of a conscious or subconscious pressure to get things done and wrapped up.
In a lot of ways this season reflects the specific pressures the world has faced of late: the Uranus-Pluto square, which drives that feeling so many of us as individuals have that somehow, we need to bust loose from the structures of our lives… and yet at the same time, something beyond our control is holding us back.
Fortunately, this week sees a transit that can help us grasp the reins and take charge: Jupiter trine Saturn. That aspect is in effect all this week and peaks on Thursday. To the ancients, Jupiter-Saturn aspects were a big deal: often they would signify a major change in rulership, or an upheaval in the social order. As a planet, we’ve already had enough upheaval in the last couple of years, thank you very much, and that’s likely the case in your personal life, too. The Jupiter-Saturn trine is a chance to put things right, to establish order where once there is now chaos, and to make some sense of our lives. Of special note: if what is needed is a clearly delineated plan or a well-phrased pitch, Mercury trine Uranus on Monday will help you find the time and the brain and the words to pull it off.
Making sense of your love life sounds like a proper goal, but this week’s planetary picture may not accommodate that as much as you’d like. Venus in Capricorn is a good solid base for the affections, but as it spends its last full week before going retrograde, the Love Planet is strongly placed but relatively unsupported by aspects from the other planets. Your need for steady love and stable finances may go largely unfulfilled. What’s needed is to step back and take stock of the Big Picture, and that’s where the Jupiter-Saturn trine comes in. Make your plans and set them in motion this week for long-term success in your love life and your material base, but don’t expect immediate results.
Complicating matters this week is Mars in Libra, at the start of its ridiculously long trip through the Sign of its fall. Get used to the sense that someone or something needs a good throttling, but you can’t figure out who or what the most worthy recipient is. Remember: you might feel better after lashing out, but your aim might well be off this week. Again: plan carefully.
