Mercury tends to not grab as much attention astrologically as perhaps it should. As the ruler of thought processes and communications, it’s certainly important but not terribly sexy. Currently, Mercury is in Leo — which is generally not thought of as being its best placement. Mercury in Leo has more of a reputation for creativity and/or drama than for more Mercurial qualities, like “looking before you leap.” Well, even Mercury has to cut loose sometimes … and this week, poor little neglected Mercury has a couple of opportunities to shine — or perhaps to jump out of the shadows and make trouble for you, depending on your circumstances.
Although Jupiter opposite Pluto was exact last week, it still remains very much in effect. In fact, last week’s New Moon cemented this opposition as arguably the most important aspect happening this week. Your conception of committed relationships and what constitutes “a good time” may be subject to unusual and sudden pressures to change. If you are in a committed relationship, there’s a good chance it will take a rather dramatic turn. Don’t panic though: for many of you this will be good news. For the rest of you, Venus in Libra later in the week will give you a chance to regroup and rebuild.
On Wednesday, Mercury trine Uranus will spark new and inventive ideas as to how to communicate what you want and need from people. A little quick thinking can make the difference in your workplace or your love life.
On Friday, Venus enters Libra. That same evening, many of you will be entering bars or other social places looking for romance. Think of Venus as your “wing man” for these purposes. For those of you unfamiliar with the concept, in Bro-speak, a “wing man” is a buddy you take to the bar who runs interference for you while you pursue the woman of your choice. Being a wing man is generally a thankless job, and frankly that tactic never works as well as it sounds like it should (not that I’d know or anything). Just because Venus is strongly placed in Libra doesn’t mean it will do all the work for you. However, if all you need is a little more smooth presentation and some refinement of your dating tactics, the next five weeks should prove to be just what you need. Those of you with important placements in the early degrees of the fire or air signs should particularly benefit from this.
In general though, it should be a smoothly functional week. Just don’t give in to that Mercury in Leo urge to open your mouth and say something dramatic, followed by the inevitable Foot Insertion.
