Things change, and when they do so it’s often too quickly for anyone’s liking. Last month the big astrological news was all the planetary activity in Pisces, making moods generally wet and dreamy and frankly not very constructive. This week’s New Moon in Aries will take a lot of frustrations and long-standing conflicts, pump them full of caffeine, and send them out to play like a hyper kid who has eaten far too much sugary cereal.
Of course, New Moons are always useful for making a conscious effort regarding the things you want to achieve with your life in the following weeks. Whatever sector of your birth chart 20 degrees Aries falls in is bound to be pumped up and/or agitated — perhaps uncomfortably so. That would be because Venus and Mars are also closely conjunct the Sun and Moon. Aries has a bit of a hyperactive child reputation at the best of times, but with Mars involved, things could very well get out of hand. Throw Venus into the mix, and conflicts over affection (or the lack of it) or money (or the lack of it) are highly likely. Address long-standing issues in your personal life, but do so carefully. Take a few deep breaths and count to ten before you blow up on someone. Energy can be a great thing, but it needs to be directed properly. The Moon is Void of Course all day Monday, so don’t be too surprised if all your Monday morning ambitions get you absolutely nowhere.
One more thing to keep an eye on this week is Pluto, which turns retrograde on Friday. You hear a lot of things about Mercury retrograde when communications go wrong, but Pluto retrograde doesn’t get as much press. But when the Solar System’s scariest planet by weight goes backwards, it does so for months at a time. And hey, it’s not like no one ever dies or nothing ever blows up during a Pluto retrograde. What’s most important to keep in mind about this retrograde is that it will bring Pluto back closer to the exact square with Uranus. For many of you, the Uranus-Pluto square amping itself up again will feel a bit like the inevitable scene at the end of an 80s horror movie where it turns out Jason is (surprise!) still alive and kicking … or killin’ if you prefer.
So: take all that Aries energy and choose your battles wisely and you will probably win. But beware: any soldier can tell you about a certain thing called “collateral damage.”
