As predictive work in astrology goes, the Sun and Mercury changing signs aren’t much of a big deal, but they can certainly trigger other things that have been building for a while. And although Venus may be the “Love Planet,” there’s a lot more to running a love life than Venus. Part of it is communication, and that’s where Mercury comes in. How you talk to someone, how you perceive the words of others, and how you write a love letter (or a “Dear John” letter) are all ruled by Mercury. In this first week of Mercury in Aquarius, it makes a couple of interesting connections.
For the first part of the week, Sun conjunct Mercury at the start of Aquarius gives a certain extra impulse to your communications. This could mean that it’s time to break down and admit to someone how you feel … or it could mean you impulsively answer a personal ad you just knew you shouldn’t. Communication is important, sure … but a little thought first could save you a lot of hassle. Also, keep in mind that this transit affects everyone, so don’t be too surprised if someone gets a bit of foot-in-mouth disease when communicating with you. Later in the week, Mercury trine Jupiter brings a similar urge to communicate … but in a happier, bouncier, and possibly unwise way. Again: proofreading and caution could be your best friend.
The Moon spends most of the week in Gemini and Cancer. Signs that are next to each other are normally a fair bit different from each other, but these two are especially an Odd Couple. Think of it this way: until Wednesday, try to use your head. From Thursday on, use your heart more. Wednesday? Lay low. The moon will be void of course for a large portion of the day. Sunday’s full moon in Leo brings the week to a dramatic and emotional conclusion… so be careful not to add any extra drama to what is already a highly charged emotional environment.
Meanwhile, Venus is in the middle third of Capricorn, which is normally a nice solid place for it … except that this week, there aren’t any big planetary aspects to it. That means that your love impulses could be a little reckless or impulsive. “Love” is great—don’t get me wrong—but if there’s one thing Love needs, it’s a Designated Driver.
