Love Horoscope for the Week of January 7

weeklylove“The course of true love never did run smooth,” Shakespeare said in A Midsummer’s Night Dream—and that was one of his comedies. These things turned out even worse in one of his many plays where everyone had the daggers and poison at the ready. Fortunately, you and I aren’t fictional characters, and the only sense of having to follow a storyline is the one we give ourselves. This week, Venus gives us a chance to turn our love lives into one of those “choose your own adventure” books, and we can (at least somewhat) aim things towards the conclusion we want.

(HINT: Romeo and Juliet both ended up dead. Don’t go with that storyline.)

For the first part of the week, Venus wraps up its tour of Sagittarius, unaspected, untamed, and a little out of control. That may not sound terribly stable, but it certainly could make things fun. With Sagittarius ruled by Jupiter (currently floating along retrograde and a bit giddy in Gemini), if there are any patterns of boredom or same-ness in your romantic life that need breaking, this could be the time to shake things up.

Thursday, Venus enters Capricorn. Capricorn is a nice fit for Venus, lending sense and order to what might otherwise be ill-advised romantic adventures. What’s more, Venus is building to a sextile with Saturn and a conjunction with Pluto, so now would be an excellent time to take stock of where your love life is at, and prepare to make the solid, lasting, and potentially huge changes you want—or to strengthen the weak spots in what you already have.

Of course, both Shakespeare and the Universe Itself understand that conflict and the unexpected are the soul of drama, and before Venus makes that safe and sane sextile, she has to build up to a square with Uranus. Anything that squares Uranus should brace for the unexpected, and not usually a comfortable kind of “unexpected” either. Any jolts or bumps you encounter towards the end of the week are likely going to be hard to predict—but may likely make perfect sense in hindsight.

Either way, from a romantic perspective, the week has a sense of being a prequel to the adventure to come in the next month. Lucky you, though: a New Moon in Capricorn on Friday gives you a chance to put out your intentions for the next month. Hope for the best, brace for the worst, and overall things should work out for the best.
