The Year Ahead for Sasstrology: No More Weekly Horoscopes

The Year AheadSasstrology has come a long way since my first blog post in 2006. After four years, the blog attracts over half a million pageviews per month and over 100K unique monthly visitors. Although every ranking system is somewhat subjective, I’m proud to note that we’re the #1 Astrology blog according to Invesp, the #3 blog according to Best Astrology Blogs and the most highly trafficked astrology blog according to Top Listed.

But if I have learned anything over the past few years, it’s not the quantity of traffic that counts, but rather the quality of a blog’s readers. Sasstrology has a thriving forum that has more-or-less survived its transition from its previous home on Ning. And some of our blog posts have elicited over 6000 comments!

Unfortunately, the recession has hit Sasstrology hard. I’ve had to cut back on a few features to keep the blog “cashflow positive,” and I’m sad to announce that the week of December 27 will feature the last of Michelle Piller’s wonderful weekly love horoscopes for all 12 signs. Fortunately, she has agreed to contribute a weekly love forecast, an extended overview of the astrological factors currently in play.

Life Goes On

Our publishing schedule will continue its regular course:

  • Sundays: Weekly Love Horoscope (General Forecast)
  • Tuesdays: Sex & Relationship posts by an assortment of quality guest bloggers (and sometimes myself)
  • Wednesdays: Moonit Celebrity Compatibility
  • Thursdays: Venus-Mars Compatibility (we’re going to run this feature until all 144 combinations are written)
  • Fridays: Moonit Celebrity Compatibility

My goal for 2011 is to create a compelling offering for readers who are passionate about learning the art and science of astrology compatibility. (Or just using their understanding of the zodiac to get laid.) I want to hear from you in the comments section:

  • What are you interested in learning more about?
  • What are your favorite (and least favorite) features on the blog?
  • If you were running Sasstrology, in what direction would you take it in 2011?

I will savor all of your feedback, digest it, and then do what I want—but know that Sasstrology has only reached this point thanks to your participation. After all, you vote with your clicks.

Thanks,
