Pluto/Ceres is the power of nurturing based on the ability to accept loss.

Ceres was a crop goddess whose daughter (Persephone) was abducted by Pluto, Lord of the Underworld. Ceres mourned, the crops withered and people starved. Eventually she made a deal with Pluto and Persephone was allowed to spend part of the year with her mother, and during this time the crops grew.

Ceres is about seasons of growth and loss – forces that you have no control over can make you feel helpless. But acceptance of these seasons helps you make the most of the times when life is fruitful.

This trine encourages you to dig deep. An area of practical nurturing can trigger physical transformation if you’re aware of what you can and cannot control. With this aspect you may find it easier to let go of what’s dying while you totally commit to what’s growing. You could make an agreement with someone or with yourself/the universe/external forces – the agreement will not give you everything you want but you can receive some of what you want. Make the most of this- look after the crops that have survived or care for someone with the understanding that you can’t control them. Concrete examples of nurturing that strengthen security and resources (food, money, physical routines) are favoured.

Venus quincunx Neptune is the disconnect between relationships/self-expression and the highest vision of these things. Confidence in talent or attractiveness is undermined by vague fears or dissatisfaction. Sensitivity (to rejection) is heightened as are unrealistic expectations of appreciation and recognition. As you reach for the dream you end up exposing yourself or sacrificing everything.

The dream must be adjusted with the reality of what you have or want. Pride in yourself and what you have to offer does not need extra shine. Aren’t you good enough as you are? At the same time, recognize that there’s more out there (this brings us back to Pluto/Ceres)- things you cannot control and energies that flow on their own schedule. The love and recognition that’s yours will come to you – the only way you lose is if you distort yourself in an attempt to meet that elusive ideal.
