When I was a kid, I saw an educational film about how nuclear chain reactions work. It involved a room full of mouse traps, each one loaded with two ping pong balls. Somebody threw one ping pong ball into the room, which set off a mousetrap, which set off two more mouse traps, and so on. On the one hand, I thought that was pretty cool. On the other hand, even as a kid I had to admit that it made for a heck of a mess. That’s kind of what this week’s love life prospects will be like for many.
The week begins with Venus square Jupiter. That’s an excellent combination for overdoing things and overspending both your money and your affections. I know that sounds like fun, but at times like this it’s always best to try and use your best judgment. “Judgment” of course is the domain of Mercury, and Mercury is not doing its best and clearest thinking early in the week. Mercury conjunct Mars is exact on Tuesday, and that’s going to make for a lot of impulsive and poorly thought-out statements. This also means that Mars, which rules the sex drive, will be guiding a lot of words and actions this week. Remember folks: sexting is fun, but the wrong eggplant emoji to the wrong inbox can really ruin your day.
Do things get more romantic or less sensible later in the week? Well… yes to both. The middle of the week is dominated by two powerful Venus transits. First on Wednesday, Venus opposite Neptune is exact. That makes the entire week loaded with opportunities for new or more exciting romance and dating experiences. However, this is not a very sensible influence, especially when it comes to initiating new relationships.
Ever notice how you’re more likely to make much worse dietary decisions for yourself when you’re starving? Venus trine Pluto is exact on Friday, and any hunger pangs d’amour you experience will be deeper and more powerful than usual. Often, that’s a good thing. But in light of the Venus-Neptune situation this week, you might find you’ve talked yourself into the notion that sure, that Double McGreaseburger is perfectly acceptable on your current diet. Yes, that’s also a metaphor about your romantic decisions.
Nonetheless, you’re an intelligent person capable of making the right choices for yourself, aren’t you? And as always, Mercury will help you keep logical and — oh crap, Mercury opposite Neptune is exact on Saturday. Never mind what I was just saying. Even if you don’t drink, you might need a designated driver if you’re on a date this weekend anyway.
