Today’s influences hit all the right notes – enthusiasm, harmony and acceptance, with a touch of magic. If you have something to launch, submit or attempt, today’s overall ease and opportunity can help.
Mercury in Libra conjoins Jupiter, at 6 degrees. Jupiter expands Mercury’s wit and verbal grace, and Mercury puts Jupiter’s beliefs into words. Discussions will be open and hopeful. Excellent for introductions or any social function where it’s essential to be polite and positive. This aspect gives all one-on-one communication an optimistic spin, so if you’re trying to make amends or find something to talk about, Mercury/Jupiter can inject fresh perspective and ideas.
Continuing the open-minded trend, the Libra Sun trines Pallas Rx, at 18 degrees Aquarius. Odd patterns are given a social outlet. Something that’s too revolutionary for polite company has a better chance of being accepted. And, the Moon conjoins Pallas Rx, making this part of a Waxing trine between the Sun and Moon. This part of the lunar cycle makes integration easier. Events ease forward and understanding grows. Libra and Aquarius blend group dynamics with one-on-one connections.
Venus at 21 degrees Scorpio conjoins Juno and trines Chiron Rx in Pisces. Love and profound commitment merge, while Chiron adds a shot of empathy. Unconditional expressions of fidelity come from the acceptance of each other’s wounds. Pain is shared and makes the relationship stronger.
Mars in Capricorn makes a sextile to Neptune Rx in Pisces, at 9 degrees. This is an aspect of gentle manifestation, as Mars’ determined actions ground Neptune’s dreams. A vision can be solidified, as you work to integrate magic into the real world.

October 11th brings a hopeful conjunction between Mercury and Jupiter in Libra. Ideas about ethics, fairness or relationship possibilities will grow. New social contacts, contracts and potentials for compromise will be floating around, but the October 13th square between Mercury and Mars in Capricorn follows with some disagreements. October 14th brings a calming sextile between Mercury and Saturn in Sagittarius, but then we see a darkly edged square between Mercury and Pluto in Capricorn on October 15th.
The blend of energies involving Mercury suggest dynamic, fast-moving conversations. Optimism can quickly shift to anger, and the urge to say the right thing can change to defensiveness. But tension also means opportunity. If you handle these shifting energies calmly, you can make your point, learn something essential or win an argument. This could be your grace-under-pressure moment, as you balance your responses to the mood of the moment. You’re always in control of what you say or decide. Or, you could bolt to either end of the Libra spectrum: outright hostility or complete passivity.
All this builds to the October 15th/16th Aries Full Moon, conjoining Uranus. The flash of clarity will be harsh for some, liberating for others. The Mercury/Pluto square will directly inform this Moon, as the subconscious is illuminated and the unspoken truth is revealed.
Aspects to Mercury in your relationship sector bring passionate discussions and arguments with another person. Business or romantic relationships will give you lots to talk about, and some of that will be edged with tension. Mercury/Jupiter can present new relationship possibilities (or introduce you to someone new) while the squares to Mars and Pluto will trigger competition or disagreements about authority. Saturn quietly confirms a larger perspective and acknowledgement of what’s ethical/legal.
The Full Moon in your sign conjoins Uranus Rx, triggering an inevitable but surprising conclusion. You sensed this was coming, but it can still hit harder and faster than expected. Whether there’s an exit or hot turning point that plunges you into something new, your need for freedom will be paramount.
Aspects to Mercury in your sector of routine can make for some lively discussions with co-workers, or bring a rush of new tasks/information that keep you scrambling. Mercury/Jupiter can present an optimistic solution. The squares to Mars and Pluto will challenge your ability to multitask, do your job, or attend to obligations. Extra demands on your time can involve health issues. Saturn adds background reassurance in the form of financial or emotional clarity. Even as daily routines are whipped into dust devils of activity, you can anchor yourself if you’ve taken care of some less obvious essentials.
The Full Moon in your hidden sector can trigger something in your blindspot. You may have been so busy with things in that corner that you didn’t see this coming. A revelation, unexpected reaction or “Aha” moment will clarify – this could be the piece of the puzzle that you didn’t know was missing. Too, an ending or abrupt exit could be featured.
Aspects to Mercury in your sector of self-expression can be exciting, encouraging and a bit risky. Mercury/Jupiter urge you to put yourself out there, romantically or creatively. But the squares to Mars and Pluto suggest an innocent comment can uncover much more. Tension (sexual or otherwise) will be based on fears of losing control versus desires to win/conquer. Saturn can keep you balanced with an existing relationship – there’s support or confirmation from someone, so don’t question what you already know to be true.
The Full Moon in your social sector suggests a surprising public display, or abrupt reactions from friends/groups. This can be your moment to take a stand or grab the spotlight, but the public vibe will be volatile.
Aspects to Mercury in your domestic sector can fire up some emotional family discussions. Mercury/Jupiter suggests new plans for expansion, or future possibilities (relocation, home improvements, travel). Family get-togethers may be featured. The squares to Mars and Pluto indicate arguments in a domestic relationship. Disagreements may appear to be about one thing (on the surface) but will actually reveal much more, if you’re paying attention. Saturn suggests that, despite any tension, day to day activities and responsibilities can proceed smoothly.
The Full Moon in your career sector can catch you off guard with a career matter (job ending or unexpected opportunity). A sudden change in future goals, or abrupt results involving authority/rebellion against authority, may be issues.
Aspects to Mercury in your communication sector can get the conversation started, or gift you with a brilliant idea. Mercury/Jupiter give you the ability to sell, promote or convince, while opening your eyes to new alternatives. The squares to Mars and Pluto suggest external challenges to your words, or anger/power struggles that fuel your passion to get your point across. Work or health matters can be triggers. Too, you may be introduced to some challenging new people who are catalysts for bigger changes. Saturn points to set plans or information involving a new romance, creative work or issues involving children/pregnancy. There’s something you can count on here.
The Full Moon in your sector of opportunities can open things up in the areas of education, long distance travel, legal matters or publishing. The unexpected may be just what you need, even if it consists of an ending or change of plans. Freedom to step into the unknown, even if you’re not ready for it, will be a theme.
Aspects to Mercury in your sector of personal resources can boost your confidence, your spending and your desire to have more. Mercury/Jupiter suggest new sources of income, or the confidence to raise your prices/demand more from a relationship. You’re worth it. The squares to Mars and Pluto can add an edge to your expectations, and you may be pushed to defend yourself. You won’t be backing down, especially if you sense that someone is not appreciating what you have. Saturn urges you to look to what you’ve already accomplished/built.
The Full Moon in your sector of shared resources can rip the curtain back on a financial or intimacy matter. Debts, taxes, loans or your partner’s finances may reach a turning point – it could be time to pay it off or confront the issue. Physical/emotional intimacy can suddenly begin, end or deepen. Overall, this Moon will be about shaking loose security habits that have kept you stuck. Too, you may feel the unavoidable urge to shake things up yourself.
Aspects to Mercury in your sign can motivate and disrupt you. Mercury/Jupiter brings the big idea, the brilliant new contact or surge of optimism, but squares to Mars and Pluto suggest challenges on the domestic front can leave you feeling a bit rattled. Too, a relocation, home repairs or family discussions can put you under siege. Saturn suggests reaching for as much calm as you can – there should be some plans or assurances that you can nail down. An official document or discussion may be the one thing that remains steady.
The Full Moon in your relationship sector can abruptly accelerate a partnership. A ending, new beginning or final point of tension will be out of your hands, as someone else makes the call. Mercury/Pluto will trigger the uncomfortable discussion, or force you to look at the issue you’d rather avoid. The energies can be a mix of revealing and exciting. Whatever happens, rest assured there will be no ambiguity – your appropriate response will be clear.
Aspects to Mercury in your hidden sector can stir up background issues, but the time will not yet be ripe for going public. Mercury/Jupiter suggest a growing potential or hope, while the squares to Mars and Pluto indicate external arguments or anger will be based on secrets, unconscious motivations or something you’re not privy to. You don’t have all the information yet. A discussion, document, new contact or issue with siblings can be especially contentious. Saturn urges you to stick to an ongoing plan of self-sufficiency and focus – there may be some minor good news with finances.
The Full Moon in your sector of routine can hit you suddenly with work or health results. This culmination will be dependent on past changes (or avoidance of change) involving diet, exercise, medical issues or work tasks. But the outcome may still catch you by surprise, as events accelerate more quickly than anticipated. Results are likely to be less disruptive if you’ve paid attention to the need for change.
Aspects to Mercury in your social sector keep you busy with others, and social interactions will be a mixed bag. Mercury/Jupiter suggests a meeting with someone who can help you, or a fascinating new contact. Too, good times with friends may be featured. But the squares to Mars and Pluto can throw in some disagreements or buried hostilities. Public events and group activities can keep you on your toes, with a blend of opportunity and action. The sextile to Saturn in your sign insists that you can build on whatever happens, no matter how disruptive – watch for indications of future developments. Use your authority and focus to keep it together.
The Full Moon in your sector of self-expression can push you to take a risk, open up or reach for something/someone you want. You may get caught up in the moment, and it will be easy to push things too far. Use a bit of caution. A new romance, creative/artistic work, public event or celebration may be involved. Issues with children can also catch you by surprise.
Aspects to Mercury in your career sector can set you up for success, but also a few challenges. Mercury/Jupiter suggests a career opportunity, encouraging discussion with management or positive public announcement. The squares to Mars and Pluto in your sign indicate that you’ll also feel the need to push this situation to the limit. Whether you’re exercising your power, feeling competitive or challenged, know that a little force goes a long way. Saturn adds background stability with the knowledge that certain things have already fallen into place – you don’t need to force it.
The Full Moon in your domestic sector can bring an exciting conclusion to a family or relationship issue. A move, changes at home or next chapter in a relationship can hit suddenly. Or, you may feel some urgency as you push things along. Breaking from the past can be a powerful motivator.
Aspects to Mercury in your sector of opportunities can open up something new in the areas of long-distance travel, education, legal matters or publishing. Mercury/Jupiter urge you to explore and consider the unusual as new developments catch your attention. The squares to Mars and Pluto can trigger arguments, challenges or the urge to plow forward, but the root cause will be in the background. There’s a chance to capitalize on something beneficial here, but stay aware of hidden motivations or subconscious anger. Saturn indicates that you have social support or encouragement. Too, Saturn can help you gradually solidify a public cause or ideal.
The Full Moon in your communication sector suggests a snap decision, surprise conversation/announcement or revelation. Issues with siblings can hit unexpectedly. Although this has been building for a while, the results may change your mind or shock you. A random contact may thrust you into a brand new chapter.
Aspects to Mercury in your sector of shared resources can trigger some deeply sensitive, but ultimately productive, conversations and information in the areas of finance or intimacy. Mercury/Jupiter can bring news of a major expense/investment involving debts, taxes, loans or your partner’s finances. Discussions about physical and emotional intimacy can hold some exciting possibilities. But the squares to Mars and Pluto can push the conversation into deeper waters, and more may be revealed that you had anticipated. However, the deeper you go the more you’ll learn. Saturn hints that some of what’s revealed will hold the seeds for future plans.
The Full Moon in your sector of personal resources can trigger a break for freedom, or a break that rattles your security. Finances can be unpredictable, and impulse spending can snowball. Relationships can be extremely touchy – keep your expectations light and try to avoid knee-jerk reactions.

Mercury’s Libra ingress happens on October 7th, giving us a break from the relentless analysis of its lengthy Virgo transit.
Mercury in Libra is charming, indecisive and diplomatic. Heavy topics are glossed over in favour of polite and pretty discourse. Discomfort is smoothed over with sugary words. Sometimes it’s ok to back off and just say the nice thing, instead of the right thing. However, final decisions are danced around, because both sides look viable.
Mercury in Libra’s catchphrase is, “What do you think?” Compromise is the theme of this transit. Hopefully it’s balanced compromise, but it can just as easily be unbalanced.
Other Influences on the Ingress
The Libra Sun makes an exact square to Pluto in Capricorn on October 7th, so Mercury will be challenged right out of the gate. Sun/Pluto illuminates the power struggle or combative drive beneath the facade. Mercury’s polite conversation will have more underneath. You can use this mix of influences to open up a civilized dialogue and lightly address the issue, or avoid the topic completely. Just know that Pluto will not be ignored.
Mercury will also make an inconjunct to Ceres Rx in Taurus on October 7th. Ceres Rx in Taurus is a review of personal resources/values that are being nurtured. Mercury in Libra can trigger passive-aggressive comments, if someone is not feeling looked after. The awareness of what’s lacking is there, but the ability to come right out and ask for it is missing. And this could be because it’s not entirely appropriate. And yet, the core necessities can’t be ignored. An inconjunct between Libra and Taurus emphasizes the tension between self and other – both sides must be adjusted.
The Way Forward
As ruler of the transiting North Node in Virgo, Mercury suggests (politely) that a somewhat detached perspective can help you move forward. Mercury in Libra is a master of diplomacy because its not emotional: social strategy and intellectual comparison rule. Listen to what the other person is saying, and factor what you hear into your awareness. Step back from the details you were peering at in Virgo. Look around, and consider the people close to you. Can they help you? Is there a possibility of an exchange? Is it time to deliver your message?
Here are the aspects Mercury in Libra will make:
