Mars’ Transit of Taurus: Deliberate Efforts

Jan Lievens

Jan Lievens

Mars enters Taurus on March 9th. Action decreases, but has greater impact. Deliberate efforts and patience are the manifestors here – actions will have tangible results. This is a building transit, and you need to dig deeply into what you already have. Taurus is always about existing resources. How can you make the most of what you have? What are you trying to grow?

This is also about the basics. No convoluted plans or jet-propelled ascents. Keep it simple, slow and steady.

Mars in Taurus will be in mutual reception with Venus Rx in Aries . There’s an energetic exchange happening between the planets of action and attraction. What do you want, and how do you get it? Mars can help you navigate Venus Rx, by grounding you with an instinctive understanding of who contributes to your stability, and what has maximum value. If you really want something, Mars in Taurus asks you to prove it with sustainable actions. Only do what you can keep doing for the long haul.

With Mars in a Fixed Earth sign, and Venus moving in reverse, matters involving money, relationships, self-esteem and anger will slow right down. If you’re pushing for quick results, forget it. There’s more to evaluate in the Taurus and Aries sections of your chart. Aries is the sign of independence, and Taurus is about self-reliance. As you review or intensify your personal fire, you can build up your inner resources.

And this about you, not them. Forget about how you can attract Mr. X or make Mrs. Y happy. This is about what you want for yourself. Consider what turns you on, what makes you feel beautiful, what helps you thrive. Try to view external connections through this lens. These are the first two signs of the zodiac – you’re laying the foundation and trying this persona/lifestyle/job on for size.

Here are the aspects Mars in Taurus will make:

  • March 14th: trine the North Node (3 deg Virgo)
  • March 14th: inconjunct Black Moon Lilith (3 deg Sagittarius)
  • March 27th: sextile Neptune (12 deg Pisces)
  • March 29th: trine Juno (14 deg Capricorn)
  • April 4th: inconjunct Jupiter Rx (18 deg Libra)
  • April 6th: trine Pluto (19 deg Capricorn)
  • April 10th: conjunct Ceres (22 deg)
  • April 13th: sextile Vesta (24 deg Cancer)
  • April 16th: sextile Chiron/Venus (26 deg Pisces)
  • April 17th: inconjunct Saturn Rx (27 deg Sagittarius)
  • April 21st: Gemini ingress

March 6th, 2017: The Ultimate Truth

Arthur Hacker

Arthur Hacker

  • Sun conjunct Mercury in Pisces: 16 degrees

This is a superior conjunction, marking the full phase of Mercury’s cycle. Full illumination in Pisces will bring some interesting reveals. What’s behind the illusion? What is that quiet whisper trying to tell you? This could be a moment of truth or creative inspiration, when you see it all: the ultimate truth that transcends what you’ve been hearing or reading. This is the quiet realization that cannot be argued with.

The last Mercury/Sun conjunction occurred on December 28th, 2016, at 7 degrees Capricorn. Mercury was Rx, and this was an inferior conjunction – the new phase of Mercury’s cycle. What started then will culminate now.

Full Moon in Virgo: Exacting Standards

Jan van Eyck

Jan van Eyck

The March 12th Full Moon in Virgo (22 degrees) will be exacting.

The Pisces Sun conjoins Pallas and Chiron, casting light on the wound, plus healing strategies (Pallas). The Virgo Moon will indicate the solution or improvement that addresses the issue. As described in this week’s horoscopes, information pertaining to this Moon will start to trickle in around March 6th, when the Sun conjoins Mercury. As Mercury goes on to meet Chiron and Pallas (March 10th) more details about what hurts, and what you can do about it, will emerge.

So far, so good. The kicker will be an exact square from Saturn in Sagittarius to Mercury (ruler of this Moon) in Pisces, on March 12th (27 degrees). The vague idea or unproven solution will not be good enough. You will have to prove it. Or, you may have to sift through the extras until you narrow it down to just one. Virgo means precision, and Saturn square Mercury formally defines and limits an idea. Standards will be high, and analysis will be a huge part of the results. Nothing will be communicated casually. This could be an official declaration, that leaves zero room for compromise.

You may doubt the results, or worry about your ability to deliver. A Saturn square does not instil confidence, and as far as Virgo is concerned, nothing is good enough. But you can use this friction to your advantage. Ensure that what you’re saying/writing is top quality, and absolutely true. You’ll have to take your game to the next level – no half-assed efforts or omissions allowed. But if you can meet Saturn’s challenge with focused intent, while taking full responsibility for your words, you could net some impressive results. And if you get unpleasant news, you’ll know exactly what to fix.

This Moon does trine Pluto in Capricorn (19 degrees) so there’s your support: power from an ongoing transformation. What’s happening around 19 degrees Capricorn in your chart? That’s where you can dig in to find the resilience and deep commitment needed to meet Virgo’s standards.

This lunation also features two, sticky inconjuncts:

1. Jupiter Rx in Libra (21 degrees) makes an inconjunct to the Sun, amplifying illusions and expectations. The big hope will be out of alignment with what’s actually going to happen.

2. Uranus in Aries (22 degrees) makes an inconjunct to the Moon, jarring the need for precision, with urgency. It may feel like an emergency, with results expected ASAP. But you can’t rush the analysis. There may be a push to break some rules/take some short cuts. You just can’t, especially with a Saturn square in the works. You will have to deliver results (Uranus won’t allow you to wait) but you’ll have to do it carefully.

Not a mellow Moon, for sure. But, when confronted with strict Virgo/Saturn, you have to rise to the occasion. Keep your eye on the problem, take note of the solution, and do what needs to be done.

Horoscopes for March 5th to March 12th, 2017

Francesco del Cossa

Overview

March 6th brings a moment of clarity, as the Pisces Sun conjoins Mercury. An illusion could be exposed, but so could a compassionate approach or transcendent idea. On March 10th, Mercury conjoins Pallas, then Chiron. Building on the Sun/Mercury illumination, this influence points to a wound, and healing strategies.

Pallas and Chiron will conjoin on March 14th, but they are within orb now. A sore spot (Chiron) is perceived (Pallas) and Mercury puts it into words. Mercury plus Pallas blends intuition and communication.

All of the above will feed into the the March 12th Full Moon in Virgo, ruled by Mercury. Here we see the clear results, and the flaws. Saturn in Sagittarius will make an exact square to Mercury on this day, so this Moon will have a pronounced sense of restriction. You’ll know exactly what you can do, what you can’t do, and what must be improved (Virgo). You’ll feel some pressure, with taskmaster Saturn and perfectionist Virgo. But this can be a call for excellence, as you’re confronted with realities and you respond with maturity and refinement.

Mars enters Taurus on March 9th, grounding actions in real-world basics. If you want to move forward, you’ll have to start with the bottom line: what do you need to build and survive? Forget about complicated maneuvers. Turn your attention to what you want, and get to work.

A Saturn/Pluto conjunction in Capricorn will take place in January, 2020. This is the big league- we’re talking seismic shifts in power and complete deconstruction of certain traditions. Interested in knowing how it might impact you? Check out my PDF download

Mars into your partnership sector can introduce a hot new attraction, or add some heat to an existing relationship.
