March 30th, 2017: The Jupiter/Pluto Square

  • Jupiter Rx in Libra square Pluto in Capricorn: 19 degrees

Today features the second of three, Jupiter/Pluto squares. Similar to the first square back in November 24th, 2016, Jupiter escalates Pluto’s drive for power, and Pluto reveals the underbelly of Jupiter’s expansion. What’s behind the optimism? The square indicates a struggle, so Jupiter’s hopes and ideals may have a shadow side. Read this post for a more detailed description.

This time around, Jupiter is Rx. There’s a return to a previous opportunity or ideal.  Another shot at success, or another attempt to push the limits. Yes, this aspect can indicate success, but you can also go too far and end up triggering a severely imbalanced power struggle. Ultimately, this aspect is about big (Jupiter) transformation (Pluto). The Cardinal nature of the signs and square means “action.” You can do something significant – you’re not stuck (although you may be struggling to move forward). Just be aware of what you’re trying to gain, and why.

Horoscopes for March 26th to April 2nd, 2017

Overview

March 27th’s New Moon in Aries can deliver the fresh start that the Sun/Venus Rx conjunction promised. Venus Rx will be cozied up to this Moon, so watch for sweet, vibrant possibilities – this one is about standing up for what you love, or would love to have. While events will be crackling with new energy, Venus is still Rx. And Venus will back into Pisces on April 2nd – before you can keep moving forward, you’ll have to dive into the past to heal, release or forgive.

March 30th brings the second of three Jupiter/Pluto squares. Jupiter Rx in Libra squares Pluto in Capricorn, intensifying optimism and expanding power. Any combo of Jupiter/Pluto can spell success, but the square brings challenges around unbalanced power, fanaticism or extreme ideals.

March 31st offers a grounding influence, which may counterbalance Jupiter/Pluto’s extremes. Mercury enters Taurus, and communication becomes firmly entrenched in the immediate basics. Mercury in Taurus asks what you can realistically build with this information, right now. But Taurus is a Fixed Earth sign, so ideas can also be inflexible. Mercury will station Rx on April 9th –  get ready for more questions and delays.

Aries

The New Moon in your sign continues what Venus Rx has been stirring up. Now that you have a sense of what’s most valuable, you can progress. Relationships, public identity, or lifestyle are areas where you can advance on your terms. However, Venus Rx’s retreat into your hidden sector says the revaluation isn’t over. Some developments may be put on hold, or require deeper consideration. If something doesn’t feel quite right, there’s no need to rush. Sit with what’s happening – more information will come to light. Maybe there’s one more piece of the past that you have to release.

The Jupiter/Pluto square may be felt as an expansion of power/success, or intensified competition. Your confidence can increase, but there’s a risk of pushing someone too far, or getting carried away with your power. An imbalance between you another may reach a crisis point. Mercury’s move into your sector of personal resources can stabilize you with reminders of immediate necessities, on a financial or emotional level.

Taurus

The New Moon in your hidden sector can trigger the urge to act on a background potential. Maybe it feels like now’s the time to get started or go public – but is it? Venus Rx’s move back into your social sector suggests that a friend/associate may have more to reveal. Revisiting social connections or group dynamics may be necessary. You’ve definitely started a new chapter, but there’s more work to be done behind the scenes. The “done deal” may not be as straightforward as you thought.

The Jupiter/Pluto square can intensify pressure to make changes in your daily environment, work or health regime. You may be bursting with initiative (or extra work) but try to moderate your pace. Overwork, injury or burnout are possibilities if you take on too much. You’ve got the power to make significant improvements, but not if you push yourself beyond what you’re capable of. Mercury’s move into your sign can add to your motivation, as you’re gifted with information and intent that enables you to lay down concrete plans. Be smart about it by taking things one step at a time.

Gemini

The New Moon in your social sector can accelerate group dynamics, a new friendship, or changes you’ve made to your public image. Any changes will be based on new values, or a revised approach to relationships. For some, a public launch will be based on a past issue. As Venus Rx backs into your career sector, watch for unfinished business involving a work relationship, your professional image, or a previous job opportunity.

The Jupiter/Pluto square suggests a big push involving new romance/attraction, performance or play. You’ll want something quite intensely, whether that’s attention, or freedom to indulge. Success is a strong possibility – your confidence and exuberance will be the drivers. But watch out for deeper issues of jealousy or control – you can easily come on too strong, or indulge/spend too much. Mercury’s move into your hidden sector draws your attention to behind-the-scenes players. Hints, suspicions or unverified information will become increasingly important.

Cancer

The New Moon in your career sector can introduce a hopeful new chapter regarding your future path, current job or home business. Fresh ambition and investment in your work can reinvigorate you, and Venus Rx’s return to your sector of opportunities suggests there’s more to explore. A second look at education, travel, long-distance issues, legal matters or publishing can reveal something lucrative.

The Jupiter/Pluto square can bring challenge and opportunity into your personal life. Growth and change in a relationship, family situation or home business may feel overwhelming. But, there’s also potential to make a huge leap in the right direction. Success will be dependent on your willingness to break with old traditions. You can bringabundance into your home and love life. Possible downsides include imbalances between you and a domestic partner – if one person wants more, or has more power, this will be the moment to address and correct. Mercury’s move into your social sector suggests lucrative new contacts/clients. Reliable information from friends/acquaintances is also indicated.

Leo

The New Moon in your sector of opportunities urges you to broaden your horizons. Long-distance travel, long-distance romance, education, legal matters or publishing are areas where you may feel the urge to take a risk. Even though Venus Rx points to a reevaluation or reconnection, there’s still something fresh about this. As Venus Rx backs into your sector of shared resources, you’ll be taking that reevaluation to a deeper level. Moving forward may prompt a closer look at intimacy or shared finances – are you prepared to fully commit yourself to this new development? Or are there adjustments that need to be made, regarding what you can give (or receive)?

The Jupiter/Pluto square can signal bold hopes. Big plans may be launched, or an exciting conversation may pump up your enthusiasm for a solution. You’ve certainly got some powerful information to work with, but the pressure to succeed, or believe what someone else is promising, may be intense. Don’t promise more than you can realistically deliver, and remember that it’s ok to say “no” if someone is pressuring you. On the other hand, if a fix/improvement feels doable, go for it – you can make some powerful, positive changes, and convince others that you’ve got what it takes. Mercury’s move into your career sector can help, as it energizes structured information and steady conversations with management.

Virgo

The New Moon in your sector of shared resources flips a switch on money or intimacy matters. It may be time fully commit, with all the passion and trust that demands. Or, you may need to adjust how much you’ve been sharing with someone. Financial opportunities will be dependent on your ability to fully and honestly explore what you would love to have/develop. What’s holding you back? Venus Rx’s return to your relationship sector draws your attention to a key partnership issue, or past love interest. As you move towards a more profound, fearless investment in yourself/your relationship, watch for a reminder of what needs to be released.

The Jupiter/Pluto square can bring a dramatic change in income. More is certainly a possibility, and your push to express your creativity/talents will be the trigger. But there’s also potential for massive overspending, if you feel you’re not getting what you deserve, and you attempt to fill that void. If Jupiter has not lived up to his promise, consider what changes need to be made to your emotional and financial must-haves. Mercury into your sector of opportunities can give you some solid leads on new strategies/plans, or on how reach a wider audience. Travel, education, legal matters or publishing can see more activity.

Libra

The New Moon in your partnership sector can trigger a fresh approach to relationships. Whether you’re single or involved, this Moon will continue/intensify Venus Rx’s reviews. That means an adjustment to the value you’ve been placing on yourself versus others. Venus Rx’s return to your sector of routine can hi-light old habits of service in a relationship. How much you’ve sacrificed for someone can be a timely reminder about what needs to change.

Jupiter Rx in your sign squares Pluto in your domestic sector. A relocation, home business or change in your family situation can result in significant growth. Your power and hope for the future can increase, but watch for power struggles (especially with family members) that may pressure you to conform to certain ideals. Mercury’s move into your sector of shared resources suggests strategic discussions about debts, taxes, loans, your partner’s finances or physical/emotional intimacy. Practical details and bottom-line issues of survival will be the themes of even the most intimate conversations.

Scorpio

The New Moon in your sector of routine can bring a new job, new approach to work tasks, or new diet/exercise regime. Any changes will be based on adjustments to what needs to be done – obligations to yourself and others can benefit from your initiative to make the best possible upgrades. Venus Rx’s move back into your sector of self-expression can see you taking another look at a new romance, creative project, or issue involving children/pregnancy.

The Jupiter/Pluto square might stir up some bold announcements or an unexpected change of plans. A sudden answer/decision will be uncompromising, and will seem to come out of nowhere. In reality, a larger issue that you’re not fully aware of (or that you’re hiding) will drive things. There may be a sense of optimism that you can’t prove. Watch for last-minute breakthroughs or assistance. Mercury’s move into your partnership sector encourages calm exchanges of information. This is a good influence for one-on-one discussions about what really matters, but stubborn insistence on certain ideas may be a drawback – stick to the basics and focus on the present.

Sagittarius

The New Moon in your sector of self-expression can bring something electric, romantic or inspirational across your path. You may feel like flaunting what you’ve got, taking a risk or going public with your talents. This is your moment to shine and express intensified joy in what life’s brought you. Children/pregnancy can be key reasons to celebrate. But even as you step out, Venus Rx’s return to your domestic sector continues the review- you may take a second look at home/family issues, or a domestic partnership.

The Jupiter/Pluto square suggests a launch or announcement that boosts your public profile. The impact on others will be significant, and your influence can expand. Too, hopes/ideals about a friendship or group may be challenged. Fortunately, you’ll have the motivation to rebalance the situation in your favour. Mercury into your sector of routine grounds you with immediate necessities – health, work and obligations will take precedence, along with simple plans and fixes. Forget about elaborate solutions: stick with what you know.

Capricorn

The New Moon in your domestic sector reboots a family issue or home business. It’s time for some spring cleaning, as you clear out what no longer makes you happy/fulfilled, and make room for something better. This is an acceleration, so you can make progress. Watch for improvement with issues involving relocation, home decorating or a domestic relationship. As Venus Rx backs into your communication sector, you’ll be revisiting previous discussions/ideas. Issues with siblings may be up for review.

Jupiter Rx in your career sector, square Pluto in your sign, suggests gain in the areas of work, professional image, job satisfaction or your relationship with management. If you’ve been pushing for change (a new job, promotion or business expansion) you could get what you want. However, you may also find yourself challenged by the beliefs of those in authority. Or, your personal beliefs about success/status may be challenged, even in the midst of great achievement. Mercury’s move into your sector of self-expression encourages you to communicate proven intentions/talents. This can be a confidence -boosting influence, with solid conversations/ideas that confirm what you’re hoping for. Creative projects (especially writing), celebrations, new romance or issues around children/pregnancy are favoured.

Aquarius

The New Moon in your communication sector can inspire fresh ideas, or an assertive declaration. A conversation/email/phone call could deliver good news that reignites your passion for something (or someone). Venus Rx’s return to your sector of personal resources suggests you may revisit a previous financial issue/source of income. Or, you may reconsider your bottom-line needs for love and happiness.

The Jupiter/Pluto square suggests you’ll be revisiting opportunities around travel, education, legal matters or publishing. You may dig deeper into what you’re exploring/learning, to extract maximum value. Or, you may push the limits of a key belief byintensifying your commitment to it. Success is a possibility if you’re ready to leap beyond your comfort zone, but watch for judgemental or extreme reactions from others. Mercury’s move into your domestic sector focuses you on the practical issues around home, domestic comforts and family necessities. Sibling conversations are emphasized.

Pisces

The New Moon in your sector of personal resources can introduce something of great value. Finances can see improvement, along with your dedication to personal security and self-esteem. This is less about compromise and more about you asserting your values and desires. Venus Rx’s return to your sign indicates that second chances (involving romance, lifestyle changes or work) can benefit you.

The Jupiter/Pluto square can increase debts/expenses, or see you diving into an emotional or financial investment. In some cases, giving more can result in biggergains. But watch your boundaries – the urgency you feel may cause you to override self-protective instincts. If you uncomfortable or pressured, take time to pause and evaluate. Mercury’s entrance into your communication sector can help, with the formulation of a solid plan or response. Pay attention to the literal facts – what do you see in front of you?

March 23rd, 2017: Hard Thoughts

  • Mercury in Aries square Pluto in Capricorn: 19 degrees
  • Saturn in Sagittarius square Pallas in Pisces: 27 degrees

A day of hard words and enforced focus.

Mercury/Pluto can bring verbal confrontations, with more going on beneath the surface. Power and domination will be the subtext, but the words may say something different. Look beneath the aggressive, verbal push for the real truth. In some cases, this aspect could signify a crisis resulting from building pressure. If someone is finally speaking up, the words could come out more harshly than intended. Mercury square Pluto goes for the jugular, but the intent is unconscious.

Saturn/Pallas will put limits on intuition and creative strategy. Proof will be demanded. Rules will define the effectiveness of free-flowing solutions. However, sometimes hard focus is exactly what’s needed. This could be crunch time for an unproven idea – make it work, or let it go.

Cards for the 2017 Aries Ingress

IMG_5490.jpg

Here are the cards I pulled for today’s Aries ingress.

Appropriately, The Emperor came up. He’s the Aries card, and he’s reversed. This means his authority and power are distorted – he’s autocratic and/or powerless. Fear of being powerless can result in overcompensation. Then we have The Devil. This is the Capricorn card, so it echoes the Capricorn/Aries square of the third quarter Moon I wrote about here. The Devil is about being a slave to an unhealthy situation. In this case, that would be the powerlessness of the Emperor.

Where do you feel powerless? Is someone in authority overcompensating for their lack of power, and making you feel trapped? If you look at the Devil card, the chains are loose. You’re not stuck in this situation.

The 5 of Wands reversed is the final card. This is the card of struggle. If upright, it’s necessary struggle/competition. But reversed, it means you’re avoiding the struggle. Saturn in Leo is associated with this card – the effort to manifest (Saturn) something special (Leo). Have you given up the fight because you think you don’t have the power? There’s something worth creating, and it’s going to take effort.

The Emperor and 5 of Wands are Fire cards, while The Devil is Earth. Fire plus Fire is strong, but Earth sits between them. Earth and Fire don’t undermine or strengthen each other. This means all the energies in the spread are moderated. The struggle doesn’t have to be overwhelming – the negativity of the Devil is a bit less. It won’t be a cakewalk, but there’s something worth fighting for and it’s achievable.
