April 9th, 2017: Mercury Retrograde

  • Mercury stations Rx in Taurus: 4 degrees, 7:14 PM EDT

As Mercury slows and shifts gears in Taurus, the usual Rx themes apply: reviews, corrections, delays and people changing their minds. This will happen in the context of security and fixed plans (Taurus).

The sure thing may not be so sure. The idea you’re banking on will be up for review. You’ll be tempted to stubbornly cling to the initial choice or promise, but you’re better off considering the alternatives. Even if those alternatives include a delay.

It may help if you focus on the value of what’s happening. What is the initial plan/promise worth? Mercury Rx suggests there may be more value beneath the surface, revealed in the retrograde process. Or, you may discover the initial idea is worthless.

A reminder that we now have four Rx planets (Venus, Jupiter, Saturn and Mercury). Venus will station direct on April 15th, indicating a small shift in one area. From April 9th to April 15th, try not to project ahead – focus on the present, or attend to issues from the past that have reentered your life.

Overview

The April 10th/11th (depending on time zone) Full Moon in Libra will conjoin Jupiter Rx, oppose Uranus in Aries and square Pluto in Capricorn. Results will be big and unexpected, with shadow issues (power/powerless) working in the background. There can be tremendous gains or losses, depending on which direction the wheel of fortune turns. Much will be out of your control, but there will be things you can control. Stay close to your centre as best you can – pull back on projected expectations, and watch for compulsive reactions. This means your first, instinctive response may not be the best one. The April 14th Sun/Uranus conjunction can extend the impact of the Full Moon.

This Moon makes a tense inconjunct to Mars (action) and Ceres (nurturing) in Taurus. Efforts to nurture/create security or resources may feel more like a fight to maintain stability. The inconjunct demands an adjustment between both energies, so you’ll have to find a compromise between stubborn solidity versus unavoidable changes.

On April 15th, Venus stations direct in Pisces. She will not quite conjoin Chiron, but the two energies will still mix. Venus’ turn so close to the Wounded Healer suggests a turning point for you, as you confront pain, weakness or fears of being vulnerable. The square to Saturn Rx in Sagittarius will be active until April 27th, so there’s that as well.

The wound may be current, or an echo from the past.  Either way, you’re being urged to deal with it, and the limits (Saturn) around it. Venus direct in Pisces means release – you don’t have to keep reopening the wound. But first, you’ll need to accept some realities. Saturn often means focused effort, so maybe there’s more work for you to do in this area. The work will be concentrated and possibly stressful, but afterwards – breakthrough.

Aries

The Full Moon in your relationship sector, including the opposition to Uranus in your sign, may see you rapidly turning a corner. A partnership (romantic or professional) can accelerate, bringing inflated reactions, and unexpected results. An ending is possible, and a new chapter (that involves the two of you) will require strenuous compromise. The outcome will depend on how you and your partner handle your need for change and challenge. The inconjunct to Mars/Ceres in your sector of personal resources suggests a struggle for financial security, independence or values will add tension. What you’ve been trying to nurture for yourself may challenge what your partner needs, but both sides must be considered.

Venus direct and Chiron in your hidden sector add to the forward momentum. On a deeper level, you’ll have internalized the Full Moon’s message – you’ll be ready to let go of what hurts, and what no longer has value, while looking forward to something that makes you feel good about who you are in the present.

Taurus

The Full Moon in your hidden sector can trip a background trigger that urges you to step up to the plate. Undermining habits, fear of change, or refusal to do what you know is in your best interests will be themes. A spotlight shining on what you’d rather ignore can be uncomfortable, but discomfort is necessary to get you moving. The inconjunct to Mars/Ceres in your sign indicates tension between changinghealth/work habits (and obligations to others) versus your drive to look after yourself. Know that self-nurturing cannot be achieved without a necessary adjustment in obligations. Diet may be a key issue.

Venus direct and Chiron in your social sector point to a significant friendship. Old issues of wounding/vulnerability may be addressed, and then released, as you forge a stronger relationship based on shared empathy. Too, there may be a bittersweet goodbye, based on the acceptance that platonic to romantic (or vice versa) isn’t working. For some, your public profile can increase, or you could meet someone who will play the role of healer or teacher in your life.

Gemini

The Full Moon in your sector of self-expression can indicate more attraction/attention, but also more jealousy and compulsive behaviour. A new romance, creative work, or issues involving children/pregnancy can trigger unexpected (and public) results – you may not be totally comfortable with the outcome. Perhaps what you thought you wanted ends up being too much of a good thing. If you’re seeking attention, you will get it, along with unanticipated reactions. The shadow side of what you want will be in full view. The inconjunct to Mars/Ceres in your hidden sector can stir up unacknowledged issues about parents, or fears of loss.

Venus direct and Chiron in your career sector can conclude a difficult work relationship. Vulnerabilities may be exposed, but at the same time, you’ll be able to confront your greatest fear. Your professional image could receive an uncomfortable but necessary change – it may be time to promote yourself with a different view to success.

Cancer

The Full Moon in your domestic sector can expand things significantly, in the areas of family, new family members, relocation, a home business or home renovation. Domestic partnerships can experience a sudden shift in power. Your security may be temporarily rocked, even if the outcome is good. Insecurity is a natural reaction to change – give events time to rebalance, and try to avoid power struggles with another person. You may have to let go of certain requirements, in order to make room for something better. The inconjunct to Mars/Ceres in your social sector suggests a friendship, social goal or group dynamic may contribute tension, as you attempt to juggle private and public issues. Personal security will have to be adjusted with something public/professional that you’ve been nurturing.

Venus direct and Chiron in your sector of opportunities can help you come to terms with doubts about the future. The big unknown, or the hope that hasn’t been explored, is not out of reach. Doubts are a natural part of the process, as is the realization that something may not be available. But that does mean better things are available. Long-distance travel, long-distance romance, education, legal matters or publishing are areas where you may confront a sore spot, and successfully move on.  In some cases, a significant (fated) relationship could open up a major new chapter in your life.

Leo

The Full Moon in your communication sector can present a galvanizing announcement, conversation or answer. Big, surprising news could be featured, with a side of extra pressure involving work or health. You may find it difficult to respond in a calm, rational manner – count to three before you answer. This could be a positive result, but the intensity of what you were hoping for will catch you off guard. The inconjunct to Mars/Ceres in your career sector suggests conflict with an important goal,  or your relationship with management. Keep your eye on what you’re trying to nurture in your professional life, but know that you’ll be expected to make some compromises.

Venus direct and Chiron in your sector of shared resources can confront you with painfulsensitivities about money or relationships. You’re being asked to develop an attitude of acceptance around giving up control or getting close. An ending may hit you hard, especially if you feel helpless to do anything about it. Too, an intense exploration of where you’re most vulnerable can bring you and someone special closer – but you have to be prepared to go there.

Virgo

The Full Moon in your sector of personal resources can present an opportunity to increase your financial or emotional security. A big win or new source of income are possibilities, with your emerging sense of passion as the driver. Yes, you do deserve more – use your creative or romantic power. But be wary of expecting that someone else gives you everything you want. If you push too hard, you’ll trigger the reverse of what you’re hoping for. You get what you set yourself up to receive, not what you demand someone else gives you. The inconjunct to Mars/Ceres in your sector of opportunities can raise questions about future goals or distant plans. Expansion may not be in line with immediate security, but you don’t have to destabilize yourself to reach further. Aim for a compromise between the two – gradual expansion balanced with your comfort zone.

Venus direct and Chiron in your relationship sector can signal a crucial turning point in a partnership. An honest view of your hurts, and what you project onto your partner, may be called for. An ending is essential to heal patterns of victimization or martyrdom. Too, you and a partner can reach new levels of trust, if you’re both willing to look at your wounds.

Libra

The Full Moon and Jupiter Rx in your sign can speed up the inevitable with another person. A relationship (platonic or romantic) can change tracks unexpectedly. This is a culmination, so it’s been building for a while. Too, you may see a dramatic payoff for your efforts to change things up in your public identity/lifestyle. Pressure in your domestic life may be involved. What you’re striving for will have a shadow side: old jealousies, insecurities or past-based power dynamics can muddy the waters. Be clear on what you’re striving for. The inconjunct to Mars/Ceres in your sector of shared resources adds another layer of shadow, involving tension around what you’re trying to build with another, or financial insecurities. Once again, you’re being called on to compromise, although it may feel unfair.

Venus direct and Chiron in your sector of routine hi-light a health or work area that needs improvement. Lack of boundaries/focus may undermine your self-esteem and relationships. Here’s your chance to let go of unhealthy habits, such as sacrifice (or slavery) to another. Too, you may need to confront a personal obligation involving work or health. Have you been doing what you need to do? Avoidance of responsibilities can also erode your self-esteem.

Scorpio

The Full Moon in your hidden sector can unveil a surprise that disrupts your routine or obligations. A plus could bring far more than anticipated, or a challenge could come out of nowhere. What you learn could pressure you to react/reveal – you may not be ready to go public, just yet. The inconjunct to Mars/Ceres in your relationship sector suggests a partner’s attempts to look after their needs will also have to be taken into consideration.

Venus direct and Chiron in your sector of self-expression hi-lights the discrepancy between what you desire versus where you feel inadequate or ignored. A relationship or creative issue could hit a turning point, as you confront a wound – love, attraction or a bid for success will increase your vulnerability, but this is part of the deal when you put yourself out there. Is the risk worth it? These influences will answer that question.

Sagittarius

The Full Moon in your social sector suggests a very public outcome, involving friends, group dynamics or your public image. There may be a sudden switch in relationship dynamics, or in the attention you expected to receive. There can be an opportunity to promote your business, or kick back with others and enjoy yourself. However, watch out for financial pressure or feelings of jealousy/insecurity – your balance may be thrown off by hard-to-resist compulsions. Too, others may project their issues onto you – if you feel judged or attacked, try to avoid knee-jerk reactions. The inconjunct to Mars/Ceres in your sector of routine suggests public events will have to be adjusted with health or work issues.

Venus direct and Chiron in your domestic sector can push you past a childhood/family wound. Lingering vulnerabilities, or feelings of being the family scapegoat, can be addressed with compassion. Forgiving yourself or a family member will be part of your healing, as love is mixed with acceptance. You can’t change what happened, or your overall family dynamics, but you can refuse to carry the unhappiness of others.

Capricorn

The Full Moon in your career sector (square Pluto in your sign) can present unexpected results from a job search, interview, discussion with management or efforts in your current job. What you thought you wanted may turn out to be something completely different. Too, you could discover that a certain goal means far more to you than you anticipated. Your efforts to move forward and succeed will be the main drivers here, but it’s possible that you underestimate the impact you have. You don’t need to push as hard as you think you do – others (especially those in authority) may feel threatened. The inconjunct to Mars/Ceres in your sector of self-expression suggests tension between career goals versus personal expression, or family (children, in particular). Both sides must be acknowledged and honoured, and the solution is to moderate your focus. It does not have to be all of one at the expense of the other.

Venus direct and Chiron in your communication sector hi-light a sensitive conversation or realization. Going back to an old hurt, or revisiting a painful discussion, can ultimately open you up to more love, compassion and understanding. An apology can still be effective, even if it’s been delayed.

Aquarius

The Full Moon in your opportunities sector presents a culmination involving travel, education, legal matters or publishing. This could be a big leap forward, as you enter uncharted territory. Or, you could be pushed further than you’re comfortable with. There could be significant gains as well; more to learn, discover and experience. This could be the next stage of your education, in a formal or informal sense. The element of chance will be active – you could learn/discover far more than you set out to. The inconjunct to Mars/Ceres in your domestic sector illuminates a disconnect between home/family versus new horizons. As you pull further away from where you started, you may feel a sense of insecurity or guilt about what you’re leaving behind. Don’t forget to keep nurturing your foundation, even as your journey continues.

Venus direct and Chiron in your sector of personal resources can present a turning point around finances, self-esteem or values. This could be your moment of acceptance, as you deal with your greatest security fears – not having enough, never having enough, not being good enough. A financial opportunity could turn out to be a mixed blessing, or perhaps not right for you at all. Then again, you could find if you let go of old habits regarding what you must have (or what you deserve) something new and wonderfully satisfying opens up.

Pisces

The Full Moon in your sector of shared resources can shine a light on some uncomfortable issues. Debts, taxes, loans, your partner’s finances or physical/emotional intimacy may be shaken and stirred, as you suddenly gain or lose ground. Progress can push you deeper (or closer to someone) than you anticipated. Too, a sudden loss can shake your security. The inconjunct to Mars/Ceres in your communication sector suggests ideas of what you need/what’s best, will be out of synch with what you’re working with. Someone else may not be agreeable to your terms. Compromise will not be easy, but it’s a possibility.

Venus direct and Chiron in your sign say that this is the time to wrap up a lingering wound connected to relationships, self-esteem, financial security or self-image. Whether you’ve been revisiting a specific person, or an old feeling, consider where you feel most vulnerable/exposed/unworthy. Now, consider how you can change your approach in the future so those same issues don’t undermine you. Starting now, you’re going to approach things differently.

April 8th, 2017: When It Hurts

  • Sun in Aries square Pluto in Capricorn: 19 degrees
  • Venus Rx in Pisces square Saturn Rx in Sagittarius: 27 degrees

Shadow Power

Sun/Pluto can trigger a crisis that shines a light on shadow issues. New beginnings, freedom or impulse will have a darker side, as anxiety leaks through. A square involving Pluto intensifies its power, even though fear of weakness is increased (overcompensation is the result).

When confronted with this aspect, consider what’s behind the aggression. You may be the one compulsively charging ahead, or someone else may react to your initiative.

The Venus/Saturn Dance

Venus Rx/Saturn Rx can feel like a painful deadlock, as you revisit an issue and encounter limits. Those limits are reality. Whether you see that you have to end something, or intensify your focus on what you want, the way forward involves accepting reality. This is what you can’t have. This is what you must do. It will be obvious – Saturn always is.

This square will perfect again on April 21st (27 degrees) when Venus is direct. From April 8th to the 27th, they will remain within orb of each other, which means the square will be active for the entire time. And Chiron will be lurking in the background, at 26 degrees Pisces.

I know – not fun. But this is the current reality, so let’s deal with it. Chiron’s influence means this will be an essential confrontation with a wound – what you’re afraid of losing, where you feel least attractive, where you feel less worthy. Where you hurt. You can’t avoid this (Saturn won’t let you) and that will be a good thing. You’ll either push past the pain and get what you want, or you’ll understand that it’s time to focus your energy elsewhere.

Even with Saturn’s structure, Venus in Pisces is still about allowing – it will happen or it won’t. You’ll know whether you should give it one, last try, or whether you should just let go. Sun/Pluto may urge you to struggle against the inevitable. But that’s just your fear talking. Sun/Pluto really wants you to evolve. Stop fighting it and just go with the deconstruction.

Yes, this applies even if you are on track to getting something desirable. The prospect of finally hearing “yes” can stir up all kinds of fears. What if it hurts? What if you’re exposed? These things may happen. But it will hurt even more to remain frozen in your current state.  The message in these aspects is that it hurts to love, whether you’re opening yourself up or shutting something down. You can’t avoid the pain, but you can take the sweetness of release, or the joy of acceptance, as part of the package.
