May 2nd, 2017: Vesta Returns to Leo

  • Vesta enters Leo

Vesta first entered Leo on October 19th, 2016. In this post, I wrote about the focus on pride and self-expression. Divine creativity and sacred romance. This transit is about your fire – the one that nothing can extinguish.

Since that time, she has stationed Rx and backed into Cancer, which may have caused you to review or intensify creative/romantic themes. What’s your purpose? Where does your talent lie? How can you devote more energy to what makes you feel special?

The above questions should be answered as she returns to Leo. You may be taking another shot at something that first came into being on October 19th – now, the spark becomes a flame. The more you devote yourself to ____, the hotter the flame will burn.

Vesta’s keywords are “sacred” and “devotion.” Focus is important, but it must be focus with absolute passion and purity. You’re either in all the way, or you’re wasting your time.

Horoscopes from April 30th to May 7th, 2017

Overview

Mercury in Aries stations direct on May 3rd, signalling progress in all matters of communication and information. You can move past what’s been delayed or confused since April 9th, when Mercury stationed retrograde. Mercury’s direct motion takes full advantage of Aries’ energy – answers will be honest (or blunt) and plans can progress quickly.

The Taurus Sun makes a harmonious sextile to Neptune in Pisces on May 3rd, and an awkward inconjunct to Jupiter Rx in Libra on May 5th. Another inconjunct is perfecting between Neptune and Jupiter Rx, exact on May 17th. What does this mean? From May 3rd to May 5th, there will be a Yod with Jupiter Rx as focal point. Growth and opportunity are symbolized by Jupiter, but this growth will be out of synch with a security/stability issue (Sun in Taurus sextile Neptune in Pisces). Too, Neptune in hard aspect to Jupiter is notorious for creating misguided expectations.

There’s still much you can do with Jupiter as focal point. But you’ll have to adjust expectations with reality, and pull back on the growth, just a bit. Jupiter is Rx anyway, so expansion is best achieved within a narrower range.

Aries

Mercury direct in your sign suggests a final decision or answer. Now you know what the deal is, and you’re ready to move forward. Too, Mercury direct can encourage you to publicly declare your intentions. Identity, relationships or lifestyle may be impacted.

The Yod to Jupiter Rx in your partnership sector suggests a balancing act between relationship growth/cooperation versus your personal security and financial needs. What you want to develop for yourself may appear to be at odds with what someone else wants, but in reality, partnership is the key to your success. Consider what the other person has to offer – try taking one step back from your personal agenda, and watch hopeful potentials expand.

Taurus

Mercury direct in your hidden sector marks the next stage in a background development. It’s still not time to go public (that time will come when Mercury enters your sign, on May 16th) but you should sense that the pieces are falling into place.  Hidden information can be confirmed, or you may decide that it’s time to move on from what’s been holding you back.

The Yod to Jupiter Rx in your sector of routine (including the Sun in your sign) can see you struggling with health or work issues. You know a change or upgrade is emphasized, but it could make you uncomfortable. Certain habits (personal and social) will have to be adjusted. Too, your social image or approach to networking may require some fine-tuning. The key to productive growth is to channel your energy and ideals into your day-to-day activities. Not just any activities – you want more good-for-you habits, and less distractions/indulgence. For some, a new job, or increased workload at an existing job, will challenge you to adjust your attitude to work.

Gemini

Mercury direct in your social sector puts an end to delays/misunderstandings with a friend or group association. Communication with others in general should be straightforward, and you should feel that you have more control over how others receive your messages. If you’ve been holding off on a public announcement or launch, Mercury direct can be go time.

The Yod to Jupiter Rx in your sector of self-expression suggests challenges as you attempt to focus personal and/or professional ideals into a creative project or new romance. You know what you want more of, but it may not align with a secret dream. Too, you could be disappointed with the results, when they don’t quite match your hopes. Adjust your expectations, but don’t give up on the ideal. Both are achievable. Consider the best way to show off your talents/charm/attraction power while still honouring what you hold sacred.

Cancer

Mercury direct in your career sector spells progress in a job hunt, home business, discussions with management or your professional image. By now, you should have a clear idea of how to promote yourself. If a hot idea has been developing, this might be the time to launch/go public.

The Yod to Jupiter Rx in your domestic sector will require some skill to balance home/family issues with public developments. Efforts to grow your family, relocate or improve your home will need to be adjusted with future ideals and public relationships. Others may have more of a say in what happens then you’re comfortable with. Even if you have to dial back on some hopes/efforts to expand, know that the primary focus is growth and abundance for you, and those closest to you.

Leo

Mercury direct in your sector of opportunities can trigger a surge of progress around travel, education, legal matters, long-distance romance or publishing. After such a long wait, you might experience this as a burst of renewed optimism and ambition. Doors that you thought were closed could reopen. If they don’t, know there’s something even better (and more appropriate) coming right up.

The Yod to Jupiter Rx in your communication sector suggests that a big promise or hope may be floating in front of you. But, you’ll have to mange this one carefully. Make sure your professional goals/image and shared resources (financial or emotional) align with what you’re promising, or being promised. There’s a risk of asking for/expecting way too much. Consider what you can realistically deliver, or what you can realistically receive, and stick with that.

Virgo

Mercury direct in your sector of shared resources releases delays and clears up confusion around debts, taxes, loans, your partner’s finances or physical/emotional intimacy. If you’ve been hesitating to go deeper, Mercury direct can give you a needed shove. If you’ve been attempting to untangle murky motivations (with yourself or someone else) Mercury direct can give you a clear picture.

The Yod to Jupiter Rx in your sector of personal resources puts earned money, self-esteem and values in the spotlight. You’ve probably been struggling to get more/earn more, and the struggle comes from the need to adjust personal growth with compromise. In order to get more of what you want, you’ll have to venture outside your comfort zone and consider what others are suggesting or offering. Can someone else be of assistance?

Libra

Mercury direct in your partnership sector clarifies the status of a relationship. This could mean that you move forward together, or you say goodbye. But there should be no mistaking the state of things. Too, if you’ve been hesitating to initiate a conversation with someone intriguing, this could be an opportune time.

The Yod to Jupiter Rx in your sign pinpoints an area of growth. You sense the potential, and it looks hopeful. But there could be a buildup of frustration as that potential keeps slipping out of focus. Maybe you get sidetracked by fears/insecurities/money issues, or distracted by health and work problems. Tend to the routine stuff and acknowledge the deeper issues. But don’t ignore the opportunity that’s right in front of you. Try firming up your foundation (health, money, routines) to support this expansion.

Scorpio

Mercury direct in your sector of routine helps you gain clarity and control over work and health matters. Even if it’s not all sorted, you should see progress with improvements, diagnoses and work tasks. Prioritization and efficiency can go more smoothly as well.

The Yod to Jupiter Rx in your hidden sector asks you to balance a secret ideal or background development with real life. What you’re hoping for (but have not revealed) is not impossible, but it may be out of touch with what someone else can provide. Also, consider that the other person may have no idea about your grand plan, so how can they meet your expectations?

Sagittarius

Mercury direct in your sector of self-expression can get you back on track with a creative project, new attraction or issues with children/pregnancy. What you need to say or choose should become obvious, as will your best approach to promoting yourself or reaching a new audience.

The Yod to Jupiter Rx in your social sector calls for an adjustment to social expectations. Growth involving friendships, group associations or your public image is key, but you’ll need to take practical and personal issues into consideration. You may have to dial back the expansion/big plans, and focus your energy in one direction. Too, some friendships may change as you honour developments at home/with your health.

Capricorn

Mercury direct in your domestic sector gets things moving in the areas of family discussions, relocation, a home business or domestic partnership. A family discussion can be finalized, or home documents may finally come through/be signed.

The Yod to Jupiter Rx in your career sector suggests certain professional goals (a new job, advancement at a current job, expansion of a home business) may not be straightforward. Personal desires/ideals, issues with children/pregnancy, or a creative project will have to factored in. Creative and personal energies can be focused through your professional goals, but you’ll need to narrow your range of ambition. Also, consider if these newly emerging issues enhance or undermine your professional image.

Aquarius

Mercury direct in your communication sector can clarify an ongoing discussion with siblings, or gift you with general clarity about a decision, answer or past conversation. You should feel confident now to speak up about a certain issue, or declare your intentions.

The Yod to Jupiter Rx in your sector of opportunities indicates ripe potential for long-distance travel, education, legal matters or publishing. However, your next move may be more of an adjustment than a leap forward. Domestic and financial matters must be taken into consideration – your stability and resources may be in question. Too, you may be questioning if a relocation is the best thing for you. Ultimately, this influence suggests you are meant to move on/move forward, but you’ll need to look at the realities of where you’re coming from.

Pisces

Mercury direct in your sector of personal resources signals progress around earned money, sources of income and personal values. It should be easier to know where you stand, what you’re getting and how you can declare what you need. Financial discussions can move forward, and even if you don’t get what you want, you’ll have the courage and initiative to look for new sources.

The Yod to Jupiter Rx in your sector of shared resources (including Neptune in your sign) asks you to pause before you spend more/give more/invest more. Resources (emotional or financial) that you’re considering sharing may be based in idealistic hopes instead of reality. There is growth potential in a financial or relationship situation, but you’ll need to proceed very carefully – look at the facts. If you don’t have enough, or if what you know is different from what you hope for, you may be better off sitting this one out.

Tarot Cards for the New Moon in Taurus

Reversed 9 of Wands (Moon in Sagittarius – Fire) suggests a loss of power. Your position of strength has been compromised. Optimism (Sagittarius) is difficult to come by. Why? The 3 of Swords (Saturn in Libra – Air) is the reason. A recent heartbreak or disappointment. Limits (Saturn) around a relationship.

So far…ouch. But let’s look at that last card. The Chariot (Cancer – Water) means moving on and getting past the hurt. This is a powerful card – it suggests you can overcome that difficulty, although it won’t be easy. You’ll have to assert yourself and push forward. The new beginnings (and eventual success) of this New Moon will be based on your effort, and that effort will be driven by emotion (Cancer). This means the wounds of the 3 of Swords were not fatal. You’re still feeling, still kicking, and although it may hurt at the moment, those feelings will carry you towards something better.

Cancer is a Cardinal sign. Needs drive you onwards. What do you need, on this New Moon?

Fire and Air strengthen each other. In this case, it means the pain and feeling of being down for the count is strengthened. A severe ouch. Water and Fire weaken each other, but Air stands between them and has a neutral relationship with Water. So The Chariot is not too badly undermined by whatever the 9 of Wands represents. And, the pain of the 3 of Swords can be overcome, even though it’s the strongest card in the spread. Plus, the Chariot is Major Arcana (the big guns) which always adds extra power.

Need some guidance, but can’t wait for an astrology reading? My tarot readings are an excellent alternative- wait times are one to three days.

Horoscopes for April 23rd to April 30th, 2017

Eleanor Fortescue-Brickdale

Overview

This week we continue the exchange  between past and present.

The April 26th New Moon in Taurus presents a quietly solid new beginning that may refer back to April 20th. The conjunction between Mercury Rx and the Taurus Sun on that day planted some seeds of genuine understanding – real facts. The New Moon will build on those facts, giving you something reliable to work with. Growth will be slow but assured, if you keep it simple.

On April 28th, Venus returns to Aries (from Pisces) and Mercury Rx in Aries conjoins Uranus. Venus first entered Aries on February 3rd, but stationed Rx and then backed into Pisces. An issue that began on February 3rd (involving relationships, money, self-esteem or values) went through a long process of delays and questioning. April 28th can mark the conclusion to that process, with a side of clarity and surprise. Mercury Rx/Uranus suggest there’s more to discover with a second look or additional questions. And Venus suggests it may be sweeter than you anticipated. Even if the results aren’t entirely what you’d hoped for, know that this will be a chance to revisit something you wanted or loved, with a different attitude and fresh insight.

April 30th delivers an exact square between Saturn Rx in Sagittarius and Chiron in Pisces (Wounded Healer). The painful limits indicated by this aspect have been intensifying throughout April. As the square peaks, you may achieve a breakthrough as you finally deal with a weakness. Or, maybe you realize that you can’t fix it, and you move on. Note that Saturn symbolizes time (and maturity) – your uncomfortable reality could involve accepting that time is the healer. Sometimes there’s nothing you can do but wait (Saturn) for the pain to subside after you have confronted the wound.

After April 30th, it gets easier.

Aries

The New Moon in your sector of personal resources builds on financial or security-drivenbeginnings from April 20th. Seeds can be planted regarding earned money, new sources of income or how you handle budgets/spending. Too, this could be the time to firm up personal values and create an environment that’s supportive to your self-esteem.

Venus’s reentry into your sign, and Mercury Rx/Uranus in your sign, suggest an explosive conclusion to what’s been brewing since February 3rd. Now that you’ve said goodbye/made peace, you can accelerate with a renewed sense of what you want, and what makes you hot. A new opportunity may be accompanied by an abrupt announcement – you’re ready to declare yourself. Relationships, public image and self-esteem can receive an electric reboot.

Saturn/Chiron can release a hidden wound. Restrictions around travel, exploration, education, legal matters or publishing have triggered background insecurities or hurts. Now, you may discover a workaround, or find that the limit was not as bad as you anticipated.

Taurus

The New Moon in your sign is the next step in a process that began on April 20th. A new impulse, understanding or conversation can put you in a more stable position. There could be a lead that you’re following, or an idea that has potential to grow into something substantial.

Venus’ reentry into your hidden sector, and Mercury Rx/Uranus, clarify what you’ve been suspecting since February 3rd. A secret, background potential or flash of inspiration can reveal something that’s perfectly timed. Although you’re not ready to go public with this just yet, trust that you’re in the first stages of development.

Saturn/Chiron can help you move past a painful issue with friends, group associations, or your public image. By taking responsibility for personal boundaries or shared finances, you can confront issues of embarrassment or hurt feelings. Where you don’t belong/aren’t wanted, may also need to be dealt with. Attending to your obligations on a private level is essential for public healing.

Gemini

The New Moon in your hidden sector quietly confirms what was hinted at on April 20th. A background potential or gut feeling can solidify – trust that this is the start of something real, even if you can’t see it clearly yet. This can also manifest as an unproven but compelling feeling.

Venus’ return to your social sector, and Mercury Rx/Uranus, can reignite a friendship, group association or your public image. Reactions will be swift and uncensored, and it’s possible that you’ll make quite the impact. Networking or a public launch can also receive a second wind. Too, you may be surprised by an abrupt shift in a friendship (platonic to romantic or vice versa) even though the change has been brewing for a while. Look back to February 3rd for the seeds of current developments.

Saturn/Chiron can indicate a peak of frustration regarding personal and/or professional relationships. Your attempts to navigate conflicting goals, commitments and boundaries with another have stirred up doubts or helplessness. And while it’s true that your effectiveness has been limited, you should be be able to see around the corner after this aspect. Watch for a breakthrough – it won’t be win/win, but the pressure should ease up as you accept the limits you have to work with.

Cancer

The New Moon in your social sector can confirm what began around April 20th. A conversation, idea or new contact can solidify, as you gradually proceed with a sense of how to gain more value from a friendship, group association or public launch. This is about building something (with others) that will last.

Venus’ return to your career sector, and Mercury Rx/Uranus, can add new life to stale or dormant professional goals. Watch for improved relationships with those in authority, or a boost to your professional image. However, Uranus’ wild-card influence can work for or against you. On the plus side, a chance discussion can move things in a new, profitable direction. But something compromising can also be exposed. Look back to February 3rd for an idea of where things may be going.

Saturn/Chiron completes a stretch of doubts/insecurities about the future. Your faith has been tested, and your sense of adventure has been limited. Travel, long-distance issues, education, legal matters, exploration and publishing are areas where you may have experienced blocks. As this influence peaks, know that the test is almost over. Your attention to detail and adjustments to your routines will get you past this last challenge. As you move forward, consider how your daily obligations and priorities have been challenged.

Leo

The New Moon in your career sector builds on a key conversation/meeting from April 20th. Opportunities may not be showy, but there is something solid (involving your professional image, authority or relationship to those in authority) that can increase over time. Take it slow and look at the long-term picture.

Venus’ return to your opportunities sector, and Mercury Rx/Uranus, reignites something involving travel, education, long-distance romance, legal matters or publishing. Be on the lookout for the unexpected, especially if you thought this matter was closed (refer back to February 3rd). Luck could play a major role in any benefits you attract, but you’ll have to act quickly and take a chance.

Saturn/Chiron has delivered plenty of reminders of where you’ve been feeling less-than.  Romance, shared finances or creativity might have exposed your vulnerabilities and tested your confidence. Well, you’ve come to the end of this test. A final burst of effort and focus may be called for, in order to prove that you’ve got what it takes. Or, it might be time to cut your losses. Saturn will make it very clear which track you’re on.

Virgo

The New Moon in your sector of opportunities offers you a platform to step out into the unknown. Gradual expansion is the key, and long distance travel, education, legal matters or publishing can benefit from your cautious but determined steps forward. April 20th may have introduced the first clue – now, you’re following up on what you learned.

Venus’ return to your sector of shared resources, and Mercury Rx/Uranus, suggests there are a few more surprises in the areas of debts, taxes, loans, your partner’s finances or physical/emotional intimacy. A surprise can be a good thing, as you discover there’s more love/resources than you anticipated. An abrupt conversation will cut to the heart of some sensitive issues, and show you exactly what you have to work with. February 3rd set these wheels in motion.

Saturn/Chiron has been pressing on a relationship sore spot for a while. Conflicts around commitment, domestic goals, family issues or mutual responsibilities have stirred up bigger worries about loss or rejection. Saturn urges you to keep this in perspective, while grounding yourself in the present. What do you have control over? Hint -it’s not your partner. Who are you responsible for? Again, not your partner. After this aspect subsides, you should experience a lessening of guilt and anxiety, especially if the two of you have agreed to disagree on certain issues, and you’ve tackled the work that you (and you alone) have to do.

Libra

The New Moon in your sector of shared resources can manifest as financial or emotional abundance. A new relationship or financial development will be solid – something you can depend on. It should also make you feel secure (discomfort is a sign that this is not for you). Think back to April 20th; a hint or conversation from that time can now lead to more.

Venus’ return to your relationship sector, and Mercury Rx/Uranus, can present a startling conclusion to an issue that’s been in the works since February 3rd. An ending or acceleration can hit quickly, with a surprising but honest conversation (or confession).

Saturn/Chiron helps you come to terms with a health or work problem. Pressure/discomfort involving medical issues, work tasks or responsibilities may have undermined your effectiveness and confidence over the past month. As you confront and surpass the peak of this influence, you’ll see exactly what you can fix, and what you have to accept as is. There may be relief as you let go of a responsibility, or accept a loss.

Scorpio

The New Moon in your partnership sector can confirm a relationship conversation that began on April 20th. Quiet commitments and practical understandings are emphasized over romance and flashy declarations. Consider the long-term value of what the other person is saying.

Venus’ return to your sector of routine, and Mercury Rx/Uranus, suggest a surprising reboot to a health or work issue (that began around February 3rd). Watch for a rapid readjustment of priorities and responsibilities. In work or personal relationships, you may be expected to quickly accept a new routine or task. Too, you may decide that the truth has to be spoken about what you will and will not do.

Saturn/Chiron marks the end of an ongoing, painful process involving children/pregnancy, new romance or creative work. Your financial and emotional resources have been tested, as you’ve struggled to work with less, or accept someone’s denial/rejection. Not fun, but now you can move past it, and in the process, congratulate yourself on developing self-sufficiency and grit.

Sagittarius

The New Moon in your sector of routine can nail down some information/solutions from April 20th. Health issues, work or obligations can progress slowly but surely, as youhave something concrete to work with. Also excellent for starting a new diet/exercise regime.

Venus’ return to your sector of self-expression, and Mercury Rx/Uranus, can bring surprising news involving children/pregnancy, a new attraction or creative work. What began around February 3rd may reenter your life, or accelerate in an unexpecteddirection. You may be caught off guard when you get what you want, attract something/someone surprising, or put yourself on the line and take that risk.

Saturn Rx in your sign has been stirring up family wounds, or domestic difficulties, with its square to Chiron. The past month may have been especially awkward, with reminders of what you’d like to forget. Or, difficulties taking on more (possibly thankless) responsibilities. And yet, there’s a specific issue that you must prepare for, or something from the past that you need to confront. You have to be the adult. As the square perfects and separates, the pressure should ease. Past issues can be resolved (but not solved – Chiron’s wounds never disappear) and you should feel better equipped to handle your new role. This may be a case of learning to live with something, or maturely accepting certain limits.

Capricorn

The New Moon in your sector of self-expression presents something solid and desirable. April 20th dropped the first hint about what that might be, and now developments involving a new attraction, children/pregnancy or creative work are off to a good start. Ground yourself in what you know you want or what you know you can do, and you’ll attract more.

Venus’ return to your domestic sector, and Mercury Rx/Uranus, can flip the switch on a domestic relationship, family dynamics or home improvements/home business. A project or issue that’s been on the back burner (since February 3rd) can be revitalized, thanks to an abrupt conversation or realization. The answer you’ve been waiting for can be delivered suddenly Or, you may be the one who decides that it’s time to put your cards on the table.

Saturn/Chiron has defined a doubt or sore spot, and talking about it may have made matters worse. Not everything can be resolved, and not everything is meant to be discussed. The good news is, that issue should start to fade. It may not vanish, but you can turn a corner where you accept what you have to let go of, or who you have to say goodbye to. It’s possible that all this is happening in the background – maybe no one knows the full extent of what you’re dealing with.

Aquarius

The New Moon in your domestic sector can help you put down roots, physically or emotionally. New developments may be quiet, but you can slowly build up your security as you centre yourself in what feels best for you. Developments with a home business, home renovations, relocation or family dynamics may be key, and will refer back to April 20th.

Venus’ return to your communication sector, and Mercury Rx/Uranus, suggest a conversation/email/phone call that delivers good news, although not in the way you expected. February 3rdfeatured delays or a change of heart about something you wanted, but now you should see progress. Too,  you could decide that it’s time to take a bit of a risk and declare your intentions.

Saturn/Chiron has been emphasizing a lack of financial or emotional security. Not enough money, confidence or support has been a theme over the last month, as you struggled to reconcile new goals with old security needs. As the square passes, you should come to a realization that what works for others is not always in your best interests.  You can feel relief as you release yourself from the obligations and expectations of others, while accepting that old financial/emotional goals are no longer valid.

Pisces

The New Moon in your communication sector brings a confirmation, based on a discussion/understanding from April 20th. Watch for solid intel, or a sense that what’s being said is the real deal. Too, it may be time for you to fully commit yourself, via a decision, answer or signed document.

Venus’ return to your sector of personal resources, and Mercury Rx/Uranus, can revitalize a financial or self-esteem issue. February 3rd might have brought delays or a shortfall, but now you could be surprised by a sudden surge of opportunity or confidence. Watch for developments with a previous source of income. In some cases, financial changes may feel destabilizing, but know that you’re being alerted to something better.

Saturn Rx in your career sector, square Chiron in your sign, has underlined an insecurity around success, career goals or authority. Over the past month, you may have been asked to step up and take responsibility when you’ve felt like you were in over your head. Or, frustrating blockages in your career may have had you questioning your entire future. As the square subsides, watch for a clearer understanding of what you’re capable of, and what you need to step away from.
