May 23rd, 2017: Playing to Win

  • Venus in Aries square Juno Rx in Capricorn: 17 degrees
  • Pluto Rx in Capricorn square Pallas in Aries: 19 degrees

This is the third and final square between Venus in Aries and Juno in Capricorn. Previously, we had Venus squaring Juno at 0 degrees (February 3rd) and Venus Rx squaring Juno at 10 degrees (March 14th)

The crisis of relationship impulses challenging established rules has been with us for a few months, and now it’s reaching completion. There’s been plenty of time to explore the tension between new versus traditional. By this point, commitments will be adjusted or broken. The square has been an ongoing reminder that some partnership structures need an infusion of new blood. Or, some relationships just aren’t meant to last.

Pluto/Pallas suggests fixation on a combative strategy that identifies the enemy’s weak spot. Even if you’re not consciously aware of what’s happening, someone is taking this situation very seriously. If you’re the one who’s pushing for victory, consider what you’re prepared to do. Are you sure you have to gut the competition?  If you’re on the receiving end, be careful –  playing to win has extreme undertones.

May 22nd, 2017: Fixating on the Flame

  • Mercury in Taurus square Vesta in Leo: 6 degrees

The basics of what you want clash with creative/romantic devotion. Maybe you’re so focused on the special thing that you get bogged down in financial details, or the possessive tyranny of ownership. Fixating on something/someone special can shut down creative possibilities, if all you think about is “He/she’s mine” or “Will others appreciate how much I paid for this?”

Alternatively, the cost of recognition/ego may be too much, if it threatens your values or security. Consider the price of admission into the spotlight.

Overview

The May 25th Gemini New Moon happens on the same day as a Venus/Pluto square. Deceptively light beginnings will mix with deeper issues, as Pluto pushes Venus in Aries to assertive extremes. Love, money and values will be edged with must-have compulsion, but Gemini always offers more than one option. No matter how intense things get, know that what you want is not the only choice.

From May 27th to 28th, Jupiter Rx in Libra is the focal point of a Yod from Mercury in Taurus and Neptune in Pisces. Connected to the May 3rd-5th Yod involving the Taurus Sun, this configuration emphasizes expansion, opportunity and ideals. But there will be a struggle to balance these issues with solid facts. Misunderstamdings and disappointment can result if growth isn’t adjusted with reality.

Aries

The New Moon in your communication sector can launch an intriguing discussion, open your eyes to alternatives or get you interested in a new subject. Multiple threads of information can appear, simultaneously. Venus in your sign, square Pluto Rx in your career sector, can crank up the pressure to succeed. A desired goal or professional objective may prove costly – consider if it’s worth what you’re being asked to pay. Public/professional image (and appearance) may be the focus.

The Yod to Jupiter in your relationship sector suggests challenging discussions with a partner (business or romantic). Promises or projected expectations may be out of synch with the facts. Make sure you’re both talking about the same thing, especially where money and values are concerned. May 3rd to 5th will have initially introduced this issue.

Taurus

The New Moon in your sector of personal resources can introduce a new source of income, discussions about salary or different strategies for approaching a financial issue. Flexibility is the key to getting what you want. Pluto square Venus in your hidden sector will challenge you to be aware of hidden jealousy, resentment or anxiety about not getting what you want. A secret attraction/compulsion can intensify. Take an honest look at your approach to relationships or money.

The Yod to Jupiter in your sector of routine, including Mercury in your sign, encourages you to deal with the facts about a work or health situation. Developments in these areas may not quite align with what you were told, or what you thought. Nonetheless, there is a significant opportunity for growth and improvement, once you adjust your thinking. Look back to May 3rd-5th for an idea of what this may be about.

Gemini

The New Moon in your sign can pique your curiosity about something (or someone). The outcome is far from assured, and there may be more than one path for you to follow. Career or personal developments are encouraging if you’v been feeling stuck or bored.  Pluto square Venus in your social sector suggests group dynamics, or a friendship, may have more going on beneath the surface. Watch for displays of jealousy or manipulation, based on hidden anxieties around loss or financial insecurity.

The Yod to Jupiter in your sector of self-expression can see you striving for more, in the areas of performance, creative work, new romance or appreciation from others. However, you may find it difficult to achieve what you want, if you aren’t conscious of inflated ideals. Step back from what you’re hoping for and you may find something better. Too, background information, secrets and gossip can undermine your achievements. Look back to May 3rd-5th for an idea about what’s developing.

Cancer

The New Moon in your hidden sector suggests a development in your blind spot. An idea or new area of interest may flicker at the edge of your vision – time will tell if it’s a solid lead, or a passing fancy. Pluto square Venus in your career sector can trigger paranoia, competitiveness or manipulation on the job. Too, your professional image may be challenged. Professional ambitions (or a professional relationship) can trigger tension with another partnership. There is potential for success if you’ve been striving for recognition, a new job, or promotion. But use caution- others may not be completely upfront about their intentions. If you’re playing to win, make sure your methods are open and honest – you attract what you’re putting out.

The Yod to Jupiter in your domestic sector puts the focus on expansion at home, a home business, family or relocation. But before you can go further, certain details will need to be ironed out. Information from friends or public organizations may be at odds with the direction you’re moving in. In reality, what’s discussed or learned will be an essential part of your domestic growth, but you may need to make some adjustments. May 3rd -5th set these developments in motion.

Leo

The New Moon in your social sector can introduce you to a new group, public opportunity, or friends. Light, fast-moving communication is emphasized. There may be a launch or public speaking opportunity – you’ll need to be open to new ideas and multiple contacts. Pluto square Venus in your opportunities sector suggests an intense desire for something/someone that may be just out of reach. The distance factor could make this more tempting, but there will be a struggle as you’re challenged by work or health. Long-distance travel, romance, education, legal matters or publishing are areas where you could feel this.

The Yod to Jupiter in your communication sector can present difficulties with professional details, meetings, announcements or documents. What someone in authority says will not align with what you were hoping for. Too, your big promise could strike a false note with management. There is a promising idea here, but make sure the promise doesn’t outstrip basic facts. Integrate common-sense information with your plans. Refer back to May 3rd-5th to see how this all started.

Virgo

The New Moon in your career sector can introduce a new job, career path, meeting with management or idea for your business. However, nothing is confirmed just yet. Keep your options open and consider these new developments, but know that things will shift. Pluto square Venus in your sector of shared resources can trigger jealousy, passion or insecurity that surprises you with its intensity. What you want, or are afraid you’ll lose, won’t make logical sense, but your awareness of what’s driving the intensified desire can help. Debts, taxes, loans or your partner’s finances can also be tricky areas, with overindulgence or power struggles.

The Yod to Jupiter in your sector of personal resources suggests an opportunity to make more money, or enhance your self-esteem. But first, you’ll have to deal with vague promises or anxieties in a partnership, while facing the truth about a legal or ethical issue. Travel, education or publishing can also raise some challenges. Look at the facts about what you’re reaching for, or where you want to go; it’s not impossible, but you’ll have to adjust the scope of your expansion. Spending can be another tricky area – do you really need what you’re buying, or is it a distraction from boredom/low self-esteem? Developments will date back to Marcy 3rd-5th.

Libra

The New Moon in your sector of opportunities suggests multiple new paths to explore in the areas of travel, education, legal matters or publishing. Learning/instructing is emphasized, as is open-minded communication. Pluto square Venus in your partnership sector can trigger tense moments, as past/family issues influence current relationship dynamics. Jealousy or manipulation will be rooted in deeper issues that are being churned up. Too, domestic conflicts can reveal an imbalance between you and another. Fortunately, the New Moon will open up previously unforeseen ways to tackle the problem. You’ll have more room to move than you thought.

The Yod to Jupiter in your sign points to expansion/optimism, but you may find that it’s a struggle to line up financial or practical details. Behind-the-scenes conversations or unacknowledged relationship issues will have to be dealt with, and factored into your plans.  Also, check that your expectations match what you owe or share. Someone else may not be on the same page as you. This isn’t a new issue – it began around May 3rd-5th.

Scorpio

The New Moon in your sector of shared resources can open up an intimate or difficult conversation. Too, information/documents about debts, taxes, loans or your partner’s finances (as well as multiple options for payment/investment/sharing) may be introduced. Pluto square Venus in your sector of routine may trigger stressful moments involving work tasks, obligations or health. You may be asked to do more than you feel is fair. Or, you could push yourself past your limits, regarding diet/exercise.

The Yod to Jupiter in your hidden sector focuses on the development of a dream, background ideal or secret plan. It’s valid, but make sure you check in with the real world. Someone else may have conflicting ideas that need to be taken into consideration. Too, if the message you’re receiving is disappointing, consider compromise rather than complete refusal or shut down. This issue would have first come up around May 3rd -5th.

Sagittarius

The New Moon in your partnership sector can introduce someone bright and intriguing – perhaps more than one “someone.” Attraction is high, and there’s a intense edge. An existing partnership can benefit from flexible approaches to a frustrating issue, especially with Pluto’s square to Venus in your sector of self-expression. Competition, overspending or one partner’s demands for attention will require a light approach. Rather than getting stuck into unconscious reactions, try to separate yourself from your gut response. Think, discuss and remain open-minded.

The Yod to Jupiter in your social sector requires careful handling of domestic versus public issues. A friendship, group association or your public image is ready for positive growth. But you have to juggle practical issues (health and work) plus domestic developments. Anchor yourself by taking care of what’s closest to you, than use that secure foundation to focus your public energy and ideals. You may need to adjust social ambitions/a business plan, with practicalities – what you can actually do versus what you’d like to do. These developments first came to light around May 3rd-5th.

Capricorn

The New Moon in your sector of routine can introduce more work, but also more solutions, depending on your current situation. New tasks and obligations will demand your flexibility and ingenuity. Fixes and improvements (involving work and health matters) can be revealed if you’re willing to acknowledge both sides of the issue. Pluto Rx in your sign square Venus in your domestic sector can suggest tension with family or a domestic partner, as you push for what you want. You may be passionately focused on something, but don’t lose sight of compromise- others may not want exactly what you want.

The Yod to Jupiter in your career sector indicates opportunity and growth, but also struggle, as you attempt to align your words/ideas with the bigger picture. What you’re trying to communicate, or what you think should happen, may get lost in translation. Consider if what you’re trying to express can be adjusted to match big-picture ideals. And, consider if those ideals can be scaled back a bit. This issue dates back to May 3rd to 5th.

Aquarius

The New Moon in your sector of self-expression is a lively one. A flirtation, creative inspiration or new amusement can catch your attention.  However, Pluto square Venus in your communication sector adds intensity to an otherwise light influence – attraction can be edged with compulsion, and interactions with others may be tinged with unacknowledged manipulation or power struggles. There’s more at stake underneath, even if it seems fun and frivolous on the surface.

The Yod to Jupiter in your sector of opportunities suggests travel, education, study, legal matters or publishing is where it’s at for you. There’s room for growth and lucrative ideals, but you may find that it’s not easily accessible. You’ll have to deal with frustrating home and/or financial issues, as you juggle baseline security concerns. Or, you may not agree with the results of an exam/legal document. Too, you could find that you’re not moving ahead as quickly as you’d like. Stay focused, and remind yourself that future success depends on small but continuous adjustments to your definition of security. What you previously relied on is changing. This is a continuation of events from May 3rd to 5th.

Pisces

The New Moon in your domestic sector can introduce family discussions, or issues involving relocation, a home business or home improvements. Priorities can shift, and you may find yourself juggling multiple domestic tasks. Pluto square Venus in your sector of security brings up financial or self-esteem issues. A seemingly basic want becomes more complicated, as you factor in comparison, competition or social factors. Earned money/spending can take on exaggerated importance.

The Yod to Jupiter in your sector of personal resources (including the inconjunct to Neptune in your sign) draws your attention to debts, taxes, loans, your partner’s finances or physical/emotional intimacy. A discussion needs to happen, or some documents have to be signed. But the details may not clear – check the facts and make sure they align with what you’re hoping will happen, or what the other person is expecting. Chances are, there’s a disconnect.

May 19th, 2017: Enjoy What You Have

Arthur Hacker

  • Sun in Taurus squares the North Node in Leo/South Node in Aquarius: 28 degrees
  • Venus in Aries opposes Jupiter Rx in Libra: 13 degrees
  • Mars in Gemini inconjunct Pluto Rx in Capricorn: 19 degrees

The Taurus Sun (ruling the North Node) presents you with a choice. There’s something you’re struggling to preserve or build up, and ideally, it should make you proud (Leo North Node). But a situation from the past, involving disruption or detachment, may tempt you to throw up your hands and walk away. Not so fast – this is the moment where you stand fast and say “Look what I’ve created.” Walk towards the spotlight. Enjoy what you have.

Venus/Jupiter hits the same degree Venus was at when she stationed Rx in Aries (March 4th). This culmination will be based on that date. Results may be big and beautiful, as you receive a massive helping of what you want. But this aspect can also exaggerate Venus themes, so expectations about relationships/money may encourage you to push it too far/spend too much. Nonetheless, any aspect between Venus and Jupiter (especially Jupiter in Venus-ruled Libra) suggests social opportunity – there should be a way to attract more of what you love. Think back to March 4th for a hint about what these results might be.

Mars/Pluto suggests uneven arguments or choices. Mars’ assertiveness is fired up by Pluto, but unconscious factors can trigger actions/anger that end up being far more intense than the situation warrants. Before you choose, consider your true motivation. If you’re on the receiving end of someone’s pushiness, consider that they may not be fully aware of what they’re doing.

May 18th, 2017: Saturn/Uranus Trine

  • Saturn Rx in Sagittarius trine Uranus in Aries (26 degrees): evening of May 18th/morning of May 19th depending on time zone

Tonight or early tomorrow morning (depending on where you live) Saturn will perfect his trine to Uranus. Change (Uranus) is given form and focus (Saturn). New (Uranus) rules (Saturn) are implemented.

If you have any planets around 26 degrees of the Cardinal signs, Uranus is currently shaking you up with hard aspects. Saturn is the stabilizer, and the reassurance that you’re not crazy. There really is something you can do with that restless urge or desire for escape. You can turn this into something real, as long as you’re prepared to work (Saturn). And, you have to moderate that initial impulse to do something extreme or risky. Saturn wants you to calm down and look at the opportunity. What can you do with this? Something needs to change, that’s for sure. What’s a sensible approach?

However, note that a trine is about flow – natural progress. Don’t confuse “work” with “force.” If you’re trying to force something to happen, or the change feels wrong, forget it.

This is the second of three Saturn/Uranus trines:

  • Dec 24th, 2016: Saturn trine Uranus Rx (20 deg)
  • Nov 11th, 2017: Saturn trine Uranus Rx (25 deg)

It’s also part of a current Grand Fire Trine, including the transiting North Node in Leo

In general, Saturn/Uranus is about measured progress. It’s ideal for edging forward into new territory that makes you uneasy. You can go slow – no one’s rushing you.

New Moon in Gemini: You Have Choices

JW Alexander

JW Alexander

The May 25th New Moon in Gemini (4 degrees) is unaspected – it makes no close aspects to other planets. This means it’s “pure” in the sense that its energy is uninfluenced.

What does pure Gemini suggest? Completely new ideas and multiple choices. Information that’s quick but unstable – it may fluctuate between A and B. Facts that open up new layers of possibility.

The vibe is bright and curious. This Moon could have you asking “What’s this?” Check it out, but remember that a New Moon is only the first step. It’s dark and newly birthed. With a Mutable sign like Gemini, you’ll have to follow the facts to see if they make sense.

Nonetheless, keep your eyes open. And be flexible. One answer will not suffice. There will be more than one path. The issue may be complicated, with shifting priorities.

Venus in Aries will make an exact square with Pluto Rx in Capricorn (19 degrees) on the same day. So it will be connected to the events of this New Moon. It’s an interesting counterpoint, because it suggests an all-or-nothing crisis over what you love/want. Compulsive attractions, or struggles for power over money/relationships/self-esteem.

Appropriately, Venus and Pluto are making a First Quarter Square – a new way of approaching Venus themes is revealed via the crisis of compulsion, obsession or fear of loss. What’s so compelling is actually a reflection of what you’d like to initiate (Aries) within yourself. Your new values. Viewing Venus/Pluto aspects in this way can be helpful – it allows you step away from the consuming situation, and recognize that the external person/thing is not all-powerful.

And you’ll have a New Moon that’s brimming with fresh ideas, to get you started. You’re not stuck, no matter how frustrating Venus/Pluto is. You’re already in new territory, and you have choices about how you’ll handle that Venus issue.
