Tarot Cards for the December 18th Sagittarius New Moon

IMG_5595.jpg

The cards I drew for today’s Sagittarius New Moon are the 4 of Cups (Moon in Cancer – Water) the Ace of Cups (Water) and the reversed 10 of Swords (Sun in Gemini – Air).

4 of Cups suggests withdrawal and maybe some depression. Not appreciating what’s in front of you (Moon in Cancer can slam that shell closed when feeling vulnerable). The Ace of Cups is what’s in front of you – a new, desired potential. So that’s what this New Moon is bringing, even though you may not be open to it.

The reversed 10 of Swords describes why you may be feeling less than enthusiastic; you’ve recently hit bottom, or were confronted by a defeat. But this card is reversed, so it suggests the defeat/ending may not be as bad as you’re thinking. It hurts, but there’s also something new in front of you. You still have choices (Gemini).

Water plus Water is strong, so this new development (even though it’s only in the early stages) is quite good. Air and Water have a neutral relationship, so the Swords card isn’t taking anything away from this new beginning.

Overview

The December 17th/18th (depending on time zone) Sagittarius New Moon conjoins Saturn, so these new beginnings will be defined or official. However, the issues themselves are not new, as the Moon will square Chiron in Pisces, triggering wounds that have been emphasized since November 24th. Fortunately, this Moon also trines Uranus and Pallas in Aries, so you’ll have access to bold or unusual strategies. You can try a different approach, and progress (or answers) should be available as of December 22nd, when Mercury in Sagittarius stations direct.

On December 19th, Saturn exits Sagittarius for Capricorn. For the next two and half to three years (Saturn will exit and reenter Capricorn due to its Rx motion) the planet of rules, responsibilities, authority and limits will be at full strength in the sign it rules. This will be a transit that manifests what you work for, and defines where you need to take responsibility. The December 21st Sun/Saturn conjunction marks the Winter Solstice, bringing you to a quiet moment (the shortest day) where you can contemplate the tasks ahead of you.

Aries

The New Moon in your opportunities sector defines a new approach to a plan/goal involving travel, education, legal matters, beliefs or publishing. You may be attempting to make something official, or maybe you’re wrestling with frustrating rules/laws. While your approach will be new, this issue is not – this will take you back to a painful secret/background vulnerability that first came to light around November 24th.  Aspects to Uranus/Pallas in your sign give you the courage to tackle this issue. Your bold strategy will be crucial for progress, which you may see around December 22nd (when Mercury stations direct).

Saturn into your career sector, hi-lighted by the Winter Solstice, can bring you to a turning point regarding future goals, your definition of success and your professional image. It’s time to take a serious look at your current status, and if it reflects who you really are. If you’ve been happy and productive in your career, this can be a time of rewards/increased authority, as you manifest what you’ve worked for. But if you’ve been unhappy, this can be the time of endings, as you focus on a different job or entirely new career path.

Taurus

The New Moon in your sector of shared resources presents a new chapter regarding debts, taxes, loans, your partner’s finances or intimacy. While you’ll still be churning through the same, uncomfortable issues that began around November 24th, there may be an extra shot of inspiration on how to handle this. Watch for an unusual and unproven approach that just might work. You should get some answers, deeper insights or a bit more traction (on matters that have been out of your control) once Mercury stations direct on December 22nd.

Saturn into your sector of opportunities, hi-lighted by the Winter Solstice, can bring some welcome relief as it exits your sector of shared resources. Restrictions around money or intimacy can ease up as you start planning for a bigger future. Relocation, continuing your education, achieving an official designation (doctor, lawyer, etc) pursuing legal results, getting something published – these are all possible manifestations of this transit. It may be time to get serious about something you’ve been hoping for, but haven’t worked towards.

Gemini

The New Moon in your partnership sector brings fresh developments regarding a relationship goal, commitment or future plan. Sensitive issues involving success, career and authority (that first came to light around November 24th) will still be triggered, but you can look outside the relationship for ideas on how to move forward. Friends or a group association can provide some bright ideas, and you and your partner may come to an agreement regarding your next step on December 22nd, when Mercury stations direct.

Saturn into your sector of shared resources, hi-lighted by the Winter Solstice, can mark another relationship turning point. As Saturn exits your partnership sector and we enter the darkest time of the year, there may be an ending, or a period of dormancy in your love life. Much depends on how you’ve handled Saturn’s relationship responsibilities and restrictions over the past two and a half years. Now, Saturn will urge you to get serious about debts, taxes, loans, your partners finances or intimacy. There can be restrictions in these areas, with boundaries (yours or theirs) as an issue. There can be increased pressure to pay something off, or deal with someone else’s problems. Too, this transit can turn your focus to deeper matters – what you fear, what you can’t control, what you’ve been avoiding.

Cancer

The New Moon in your sector of routine suggests a new approach to work, health or service to others. This could be about a necessary diet or exercise overhaul. Or, it may be time to get organized and wrap up certain obligations. The issues you’re dealing with may have been frustrating you since November 24th, as you’ve been trying to improve, upgrade or heal. This time, you can find more support and inspiration from someone in authority. Or, your innovative plan for the future can be put into action. Too, you may be waiting on some medical information, work news or a referral. Watch for progress and/or the information you’ve been waiting for to arrive around December 22nd, when Mercury stations direct.

Saturn into your partnership sector, hi-lighted by the Winter Solstice, can take some of the pressure off work/health issues. Now you’ll be looking at a specific relationship- the mutual commitment and future goals. Saturn can help you define each partner’s responsibilities, and emphasize areas where one or both people are not carrying their weight. Saturn can also define areas of pressure and unhappiness, and whether the relationship has room for improvement, or an ending is approaching. In general, Saturn will urge you to look closely at the self-sufficiency and authority you bring to your relationships – are you being an adult, or relying on someone else to take care of you? In some cases, Saturn can bring a new relationship with heavy responsibilities.

Leo

The New Moon in your sector of self-expression can remind you of insecurities, or where you’re not feeling good enough. There may be something precious that you’ve been working towards, with struggles and delays that have been evident since November 24th. But now you’ve got a shot of hope or inspiration from an unlikely source. Watch for a chance to try out a new strategy, or (finally) take that leap into the unknown. Travel, education, legal matters, publishing or exploration are areas where you can find favour. Watch for a breakthrough or answer around December 22nd, when Mercury stations direct.

Saturn’s exit from your sector of self-expression, hi-lighted by the Winter Solstice, can release blocks around a new attraction, creative work, self-confidence or issues involving children/pregnancy. You might have achieved what you’ve been working so hard for, but even if you didn’t get what you wanted, that particular struggle is over. Now, Saturn into your sector of routine turns your attention to mundane essentials – health, daily work and obligations to others. Workload can increase and it will become increasingly important to pay attention to diet, exercise and medical issues. This transit is about getting your daily life in order.

Virgo

The New Moon in your domestic sector can bring fresh insight to an ongoing issue. You’re still dealing with wounds and sensitivities (which began around November 24th) involving a domestic partnership, your domestic responsibilities, home finances, a home business or family problems. But now you should be able to access deeper sources of intuition or inspiration, which will enable you to put a strategic plan into action. Your commitment to changing the landscape of your joint finances or intimacy will be key – it’s time to shake things up. However, you may not see progress until December 22nd, when Mercury stations direct.

Saturn’s exit from you domestic sector, hi-lighted by the Winter Solstice, can spell the end of some of those domestic responsibilities. Too, there could be a significant change in the status of a domestic partnership or a family member. As Saturn enters your sector of self-expression, you’ll start to look up and out, as you concentrate on manifesting success, attention or  creative work outside the home. Saturn wants you to get serious about getting what you want, and being proud of your accomplishments.

Libra

The New Moon in your communication sector can deliver an answer, final conversation or decision regarding a difficult work or health situation that’s been festering since November 24th. The issue will be defined, as well as what you can and cannot fix. A partner can offer a way forward, or can inspire you to try a different approach. However, you may not be able to do anything with this new information until December 22nd, when Mercury stations direct. In the meantime, use delays to finalize you plans and take note of any remaining information that’s revealed.

Saturn’s move into your domestic sector, hi-lighted by the Winter Solstice, turns your attention to home and family. This transit will be about taking on additional responsibilities at home, or rebuilding your foundation. The structure of your home, home business or domestic relationship will change, as you say goodbye to certain situations that are winding down, or formalize other domestic situations that are ready to be made permanent. In some cases, this transit can bring you back to your childhood, as you relocate to be closer to family or parents.

Scorpio

The New Moon in your sector of personal resources will trigger some insecurities (financial or emotional) that first came to light around November 24th. There could be an undeniable limit or obstacle that you’re still dealing with, and you’ll need to apply focus and determination. But now, you’ll have some practical solutions/strategies that you can apply. This will involve a somewhat radical change to the way you’ve approached daily routines, work or health. Watch for December 22nd (when Mercury stations direct) for an all-systems-go sign.

Saturn’s exit from your security sector, hi-lighted by the Winter Solstice, should free things up, as financial and emotional restrictions lift. There may not be an influx of money, but you should feel that the pressure and extra work from the past couple of years has lifted. Saturn’s move into your communication sector will urge you to focus on certain information, make something official or speak/write with care and concentration. This transit will be about making you words and thoughts real.

Sagittarius

The New Moon in your sign can hi-light a new approach to limits and responsibilities in your life. A final task (before Saturn exits your sign) may be defined, and you’ll still be dealing with painful issues from the past/involving family, which were first triggered around November 24th. But you should experience an extra surge of confidence and creativity, which will enable you to tackle this, one last time. It may be time to put that audacious plan into action. Watch for more answers, information and clarity on December 22nd, when Mercury in your sign stations direct.

Saturn’s exit from your sign, hi-lighted by the Winter Solstice, can take the pressure off, as you’re finally released from an obligation. Depending on how you’ve handled Saturn’s agenda over the past two and a half years, you may also reap rewards for your hard work and enjoy the results of a commitment. Saturn’s entrance into your sector of personal resources turns your attention to earned money, self-esteem and emotional security. This transit will be about enhancing your security and resources through discipline, defining boundaries and self-sufficiency. The work’s not over, it’s just shifted to a different area. Use what you learned from Saturn’s transit through your sign.

Capricorn

The New Moon in your hidden sector can trigger background reminders that there’s a bit more work to be done before you close a chapter. A final goodbye (which might be painful or awkward) can be part of this New Moon, and the issue has been activated since November 24th. But now you’ll have a more inspired approach that allows you to break away from the past (and break with tradition). You may unearth crucial information, or confirm a gut feeling, on December 22nd, when Mercury stations direct.

Saturn into your sign, hi-lighted by the Winter Solstice, can define a new reality, commitment or limit. This transit can be about building or enhancing structures in your life, taking on more responsibility/authority or cutting out what’s no longer valid. Saturn rules your sign, so you should be somewhat comfortable with the increased pressure. You may actually relish what’s coming your way – Saturn rewards work and ambition with permanent blessings (yes, Saturn can bring blessings). And if anyone knows how to dig in and climb, it’s you.

Aquarius

The New Moon in your social sector suggests new developments with a friend, group association or your connection to the public. Mutual boundaries and/or rules will be defined, as things progress along a narrower track. And you’ll also be revisiting financial/emotional insecurities that have been issues since November 4th. But now you’ll be ready to put a bold and unusual strategy into action – it may be time to speak up about something you’ve been pondering, even if you’re unsure that others will accept it. Watch for a go-ahead or answer around December 22nd, when Mercury stations direct.

Saturn’s move into your hidden sector, hi-lighted by the Winter Solstice, marks the end of a major chapter in your life. Over the next (roughly) two and a half years, you’ll be pulling back, winding down and saying goodbye to something that’s outdated, unsatisfying or ready to end. You may already have a sense of what this is. Saturn in your hidden sector can also help you manifest what’s been undeveloped or hinted at – this will replace what you’re leaving behind.

Pisces

The New Moon in your career sector signals a new chapter involving future goals, your approach to success or your relationship with those in authority. You may be wrapping up work responsibilities, and the square to Chiron in your sign will trigger insecurities and doubts about achievement that you’ve been dealing with since November 24th. But now you have access to a fresh approach, or possibly new sources of income. Mercury stations direct on December 22nd, and you may receive an answer about a job offer or decision from management.

Saturn’s move from your career sector into your social sector (hi-lighted by the Winter Solstice) can take some of the pressure off, regarding career and workload. You may find it easier to visualize your future and deal with certain job responsibilities. If there’s an ending or change of track in your career, know that this is the right time. Saturn in your social sector will define the friends and associates that you can count on. Some friendships may end, while others will deepen and solidify. In general, this transit is about defining your relationships with the public/the group.

Changes to Blogging

In an ongoing effort to balance self-care with the energy I put into my work, I will be cutting back on blogging. This feels right for me, and aligns with Saturn’s Capricorn ingress.

Effective immediately, I will no longer write the daily transit reminders and Facebook lunar aspect posts. The weekly horoscopes, sign ingresses for planets/asteroids and posts about New/Full Moons will continue.

Consultations will continue as normal.

Thanks for your understanding.

December 16th, 2017: Going Back, Moving Forward

  • Sun in Sagittarius trine Pallas Rx in Aries: 25 deg
  • Sun in Sagittarius trine Uranus Rx in Aries: 24 deg
  • Mercury Rx in Sagittarius trine the Leo North Node: 16 deg
  • Ceres stations Rx: 18 deg Leo

Lots of retrograde activity today, as you redo in order to reignite hope, courage and pride. Rx is also about pausing and looking within – the internal journey that enables you to mine precious gold. Allow yourself to be still, and see what emerges.

Sun trine Pallas/Uranus energizes bold, slightly crazy strategies. Sagittarius urges you to look further and think bigger, while the Sun illuminates a pattern whose time has come. Pallas and Uranus are both Rx, so this won’t be a new strategy, but it is time to take it further.

Mercury and the North Node say that asking again, looking again or reviewing the story is the way to develop it. In order to hook yourself into the future, you’ll have to look back.

This is a repeat aspect:

  • Nov 19th, 2017: Mercury direct trine the North Node (18 deg)
  • Dec 29th, 2017: Mercury direct trine the North Node (15 deg)

You’ll be revisiting a conversation or idea that has strong future potential, but it won’t develop instantly.

Ceres Rx  urges you to go back over a creation/point of pride that you’ve been nurturing. Maybe it’s not quite ready to be displayed. Or, this could be a second chance bring life to something.
