Ceres

The Uranus/Ceres opposition in the final degrees of Aries/Libra suggests an abrupt culmination or result involving the cycle of nurturing.

Ceres (the crop goddess) made a deal with Pluto (King of the Underworld) – he would allow her daughter (whom he had taken) to spend part of the year above ground with her mother. The rest of the year her daughter would be below ground.

In Libra, Ceres was about the exchange of nurturing and balanced/unbalanced agreements. The opposition to Uranus could be a final jolt that corrects an imbalance, ends an agreement or radically changes the dynamics regarding who gives what.

This jolt will lead to Ceres’ trip to the underworld (Pluto-ruled Scorpio). Here, we explore what goes on beneath the surface of nurturing – the inevitable loss or ending that is part of every cycle. And, the resulting rebirth/new life. Ceres in Scorpio may demand that you accept a loss before you can experience regeneration. You may be confronted with the Shadow side of nurturing (the desire for control, the fear of letting go) while also looking at who has the power in certain agreements (Ceres-type agreements involve primal issues that feel like survival). You can also discover power/resilience that you didn’t know you had – buried resources that allow you to move forward, through the cycle.

Ceres will exit Scorpio for Sagittarius on January 25th, 2019.

Sun/Pluto

Adding emphasis to today’s Scorpio flavour, the Scorpio Sun makes a sextile to Pluto. Here is a soft spotlight on an issue of power or transformation. The sextile is a gentle aspect, so the power/evolution that’s highlighted can be expressed effectively but harmoniously. Perhaps the “death” will arrive quietly, or the change you have to accept will manifest easily. Sun/Pluto does indicate the power to permanently transform a situation.

This is also an aspect of success (in business or finances) but with the Ceres influence it would seem that you need to make a strategic agreement, perhaps where you give up some control (to gain what you want).

  • Mars in Aquarius square Juno Rx in Taurus (27 deg)

  • Ceres in Libra square the South Node in Capricorn/North Node in Cancer (29 deg)

Today we have two squares that will provide motivating crises. No one likes tension, but that’s how change happens.

Mars/Juno

The Mars/Juno square indicates a confrontation between set relationship agreements versus disruptive or independent actions. One partner may want to keep things the same while the other wants their freedom, or is agitating for change.

This is the second of two squares. The first square occured on July 16th, 2018 when Mars was Rx and Juno was direct (at 6 deg). At that time, actions were being reviewed and revised. Now that Juno is Rx, the terms of the agreement/commitment may be up for revision.

Mars square Juno can indicate relationship conflict, but if a partnership has stagnated, this final square should shake things up.

Ceres

Ceres in the final degree of Libra squares the Nodes, newly entered into Capricorn/Cancer. A one-on-one (or one-sided) exchange of nurturing is at a tipping point. A square to the Nodes means this is a key issue that needs to be resolved before you can move forward. So there may be old rules/responsibilities (Capricorn South Node) that need to be revised (or left behind) before you can arrive at an authentic form of nurturing where needs (for both people) are met (Cancer North Node).

Parental issues are very strong here. Ceres is mother’s nurturing, Capricorn is the father and Cancer is the mother/child. What’s happening with the family dynamics? There’s a definite shift here – the way nurturing/care is being applied is up for a major change. Perhaps the caregiver/patient relationship is being redefined. Or, maybe your responsibilities as a caregiver/mother need attention.

When Libra is involved, you’re going from one end of the scales to the other, and ultimately you want to find that balance point.

  • Venus Rx in Libra trine Mars in Aquarius (26 deg)

This is the second trine between Venus in Libra and Mars in Aquarius. The first (Aug 7th, 2018) occured at 1 deg when Mars was Rx. Now, Mars is direct and Venus is Rx.

The theme is similar for both trines – actions (Mars) harmonize with what you want (Venus) leading to a nice outcome. But the issue may have fluttered back and forth since August. First, you had to reconsider your actions/try again (Mars Rx). That was the key to getting a favourable result. Now, with Venus Rx, you’re reconsidering what you want or the dynamics of a relationship. Again – key to getting what you want.

Overall, this may be a somewhat frustrating issues with multiple tries and reviews. But the trine makes it easier (events should unfold naturally) and you may find that it’s worth it.

Actions work best if they are somewhat detached (Aquarius) – less focus on “must have” and more openness to whatever may happen. Keep it light. Balance (Libra) is important.

November 8th, 2018: Jupiter’s Transit of Sagittarius

  • Jupiter in Scorpio inconjunct Uranus Rx in Aries (29 deg)

  • Jupiter enters Sagittarius (7:38 AM EST)

  • Moon conjunct Jupiter (0 deg)

Jupiter’s Sag ingress is the big news today, but it’s interesting that a few hours before this happens Jupiter will make an awkward inconjunct to Uranus Rx, in the final degrees of Scorpio/Aries.

This is quite the exit for Jupiter in Scorpio – a disconnect between deep philosophies and truths (Jupiter) versus sudden breaks for freedom (Uranus). There’s an impatience here – a push to dredge up any remaining secrets/resources but a restlessness and intolerance for depth. The resulting tension can propel you forward as new horizons beckon (Sagittarius). Just remember that Uranus Rx in Aries is pushing you to revisit what hasn’t yet been liberated. And is there something buried that you’re leaving behind?

Maybe you’ve had enough of Scorpio heavy.

Well, welcome Sagittarius. Jupiter rules this Fire sign, so it’s at full strength. That means big promises, big stories, big ideals and big adventures. You may get fired up by a truth that you want to shout from the rooftops. This is the transit of the preacher, the missionary and the zealot. The highest ideals will emerge, as well as people’s versions of the truth.

The urge for new horizons will be irresistible. This is the time for adventure, for learning, for delivering your message. Jupiter in Sag is expansive knowledge (the ideal transit for furthering your education).

This transit can also bring out the fanatics. Sagittarius is the sign of religion (not spirituality- that’s Pisces). Religion can comfort or incinerate. It can lift you up, or people can use it as an excuse to do horrible things. Expect more of both during this transit. On a personal level, this might be a good time to examine your faith (you may end up questioning it or finding it).

In general, I see this transit as inflammatory. For many this can be a good thing. If you’ve been down/stuck/directionless Jupiter in Sag can light the fire of your future. There’s something on the horizon to aim for now. There’s hope and optimism and humour. For others, this transit can inflame twisted beliefs and self-righteousness.

Sagittarius’ truths are not always fact.

Note that the Moon will conjoin Jupiter a few hours after its ingress. This will be a brief influence, but it can be a marker for a key incident that kicks off this transit. Emotions will be high. This will be purely intuitive energy: follow your gut. Does it feel good? A door into the unknown may open, but you’ll have to judge if it’s wise for you to enter or not. It will probably be exciting, either way.

Jupiter will exit Sag for Capricorn on December 2nd, 2019.

November 7th, 2018: Flow and Obsession

  • Jupiter in Scorpio trine the North Node in Cancer (29 deg)

  • Pluto in Capricorn conjunct Vesta (19 deg)

The North Node newly arrived in Cancer gets a boost from Jupiter. A situation can expand naturally in such a way that you are guided towards the most authentic, emotional direction. It may feel good (Jupiter) to move forward and honour your needs – go for it!

This aspect is part of a Grand Water Trine which includes Jupiter’s trine to Chiron Rx in Pisces (exact on Nov 1st). Ahead lies healing, release and easy access to what feels best.

This trine accompanies today’s Scorpio New Moon which rules the North Node and trines Neptune. Watch for an area of easy flow – something should be unfolding without any effort.

Pluto/Vesta indicates extreme, perhaps obsessive, focus. There may be a rigid (Capricorn) insistence on digging to the bottom of an issue (Pluto penetrates). This can be good if you’re researching or searching for a truth. But it can also blind you to what’s around you – Vesta is devoted focus, and when combined with Pluto, that devotion goes over the top.

Pick your focus carefully, and consider that Pluto rules this New Moon – are you diving into a new obsession? Depending on the subject matter, this new beginning could be a powerful, positive new chapter that’s fuelled by your intensive commitment.

  • Sun in Scorpio trine Neptune Rx in pIsces (13 deg)

  • Uranus Rx re-enters Aries

  • Uranus Rx in Aries square the South Node in Capricorn/North Node in Cancer (29 deg)

Sun/Neptune

The Sun/Neptune trine hints at the flow for the upcoming Scorpio New Moon. Neptune dissolves boundaries and Scorpio is about going as deep/getting as close as possible. This energy enables complete intimacy or complete immersion in something that you’re mildly obsessed with. It can be absolutely compassionate (Scorpio does not shrink from the darkness) and healing. But it can also enable an unhealthy immersion, so before you dive in, make sure you really want to go there.

Uranus and the Nodes

While the above aspect is significant (and can indicate New Moon events a couple of days early) the big news today is Uranus’ return to Aries and square to the Nodes (newly into Capricorn/Cancer).

The last time Uranus hit 29 deg Aries was on May 14th/15th (just before its Taurus ingress). There may have been an urgent break for freedom, or a push into new territory. As Uranus returns to that degree, disruption of Taurus values/resources/security has temporarily been on hold because something from the past still needs to be shaken loose.

You may have encountered this from April to May 2018 – a spark that needed to be lit, or a new door that needed to be kicked open. Perhaps you needed to venture into new territory and claim your independence. In some way, that ending/beginning has not been completed. Before you can continue to redefine your resources/values, you need to take one last kick at the past.

The South Node enters Saturn-ruled Capricorn and the North Node enters Cancer (ruled by the Moon). Issues from the past (South Node) will involve rules, traditions, authority, fears and repression. Issues to develop (your path to the future – North Node) will involve needs, security and inner (as opposed to externally defined) reality. Parental issues (Capricorn as father and Cancer as mother/child) may also be prominent. The Nodes will exit Cancer/Capricorn for Gemini/Sagittarius on May 5th, 2020.

Uranus’ square to the Nodes adds tremendous emphasis to this moment. You may need to liberate (Uranus) yourself from the rules/fears/definitions of the past before you can embrace an emotionally authentic and secure future. The square aspect means this will be a crisis (you may be afraid to break loose or you may need to time the break carefully) but it will be essential. Perhaps you need to come to terms with years of disruption, escape and instability (Uranus) before you can create comfort and security (Cancer) in your future.

Too, you may be hit by a disruptive event that forcefully boots you into a new chapter.

You’re at the crossroads now. Behind you lies old structures and definitions. Ahead lies something that will resonate in your gut – real satisfaction and a connection to what you need.

Although not exact, Uranus Rx at 0 deg Taurus will square the Nodes at 0 deg Aquarius/Leo before the shift into new signs. So the crossroads will begin with breaking away from old values/resources as a turning point between past issues of alienation/detachment (South Node in Aquarius) versus moving ahead to a place of pride/power (North Node in Leo). It will be interesting to see if you feel the shift, once everything changes signs.

November 5th, 2018: Libra Strategies and Nurturing

  • Venus Rx in Libra conjunct Ceres (27 deg)

  • Pallas in Libra trine the Aquarius South Node (0 deg)

It’s a Libra day – look, listen and tune into the exchange of energy between you and another.

Venus Rx/Ceres can be a moment of truly balanced nurturing, or an understanding of what the other person wants. The re-evaluation of give and take in a relationship can lead to the correction of an imbalance (where one person is doing all the giving) or insight into how you can give unconditionally.

Nurturing is not an easy task. Sometimes you give when it’s not wanted. Sometimes you expect thanks and none is given. Or sometimes you want to help and you just don’t know how. This influence can address these issues, and your awareness of the dynamics between you and another will be key.

Pallas, newly into Libra, trines the South Node. An issue from the past (involving alienation, freedom or detachment) can be smoothly addressed with some balanced strategies. The solution should emerge easily – this will be about paying attention to the interplay between you and another. Check your strategies.
