Mars’ Transit of Pisces

   Howard Pyle

Howard Pyle

Mars enters Pisces today (November 15th) at 5:20 PM EST. After a long, retrograde induced sojourn of Aquarius, Mars is finally moving on.

You may feel this shift more significantly than most Mars transits, because Mars has been spending so much time in one area of your chart (the Aquarius section, along with the very end of Capricorn).

Mars in Pisces is indirect action. It’s drifting rather than pushing. Allowing rather than initiating. You cannot force anything in Pisces, so Mars can be a bit uncomfortable here. But it’s also a nice way to end the year – things will happen as they’re meant to, and all you have to do is be open to that. Do what you can, and let the rest take care of itself. There may be a release as the tension of the past few months dissolves. Sometimes the most you can “do” is let go.

Mars in Pisces (your actions) creates ripples, but you will have minimal control over what they’ll hit. The best you can do is ensure that your initial motivations and intentions are healthy. This also means taking care of yourself, because when Pisces is activated there is an increased risk for vulnerability. Mars in Pisces can drift down some questionable paths.

This is an excellent transit for creative work, meditation, relaxation and healing. Good for dreaming and drinking, so keep an eye on the indulgences this holiday season – Mars in Pisces can take you too far, especially with the upcoming square to Jupiter.

Here are the aspects Mars in Pisces will make:

  • Nov 19th: square Jupiter in Sagittarius (2 deg)

  • Nov 25th: trine Ceres in Scorpio (5 deg)

  • Nov 26th: square Mercury Rx in Sagittarius (6 deg)

  • Nov 27th: sextile Saturn in Capricorn (7 deg)

  • Dec 2nd: square Sun in Sagittarius (10 deg)

  • Dec 5th: inconjunct Pallas in Libra (12 deg)

  • Dec 7th: conjunct Neptune (13 deg)

  • Dec 17th: sextile Pluto in Capricorn (20 deg)

  • Dec 17th: sextile Juno Rx in Taurus (20 deg)

  • Dec 27th: trine the North Node in Cancer (26 deg)

  • Dec 29th: conjunct Chiron (28 deg)

  • Dec 31st: Aries ingress

November 15th, 2018: Take Action

  • Waxing Square between the Aquarius Moon and Scorpio Sun (23 deg)

  • Mars in Aquarius sextile Uranus Rx in Aries (29 deg)

The Waxing Square can disrupt control, survival or intimacy with an abrupt flash of something out of left field. A new development, break from the rules or external prompt can force you to bring something out into the open, or give up some control. Too, you may be compelled to detach yourself from a situation that’s been taking up all your energy. Is it time to step back or move forward from the fixation? The shock may be unpleasant but it’s a sign that a situation needs to be stirred up.

You need to take action.

Continuing the Uranus theme, Mars in the final degree of Aquarius makes a sextile to Uranus (ruler of Aquarius). Mars will enter Pisces later today, but before it does, the action planet gets a an encouraging nudge from Uranus – this energy favours stepping out of bounds, taking a mild risk or breaking with convention. Mars and Uranus are in mutual reception (in each other’s rulers) so the energy of sudden or rebellious actions is intensified.

However, the harmony of the sextile ensures that the delivery of this energy will be easy to handle (you won’t have to do anything too crazy) and this can help immensely with the Waxing Square (which is action-based crisis).

Now’s your moment to step forward, even if you don’t want to (especially if you don’t want to).

November 14th, 2018: Scorpio Sun Sextile Vesta

  • Sun in Scorpio sextile Vesta in Capricorn (22 deg)

Sun in Scorpio’s depth is gently enhanced with a sextile to Vesta. Vesta’s focus is applied to an already intense issue, with just a touch of emphasis. Think if this as a gentle nudge to look a bit deeper or consider one more layer.

Focus on or devotion to a particular subject should come naturally and easily – nothing will be forced on you. Good for all matters of exclusive concentration.

Full Moon in Gemini: Think Twice

The November 23rd Full Moon takes place at 0 deg Gemini. It opposes Jupiter (which conjoins the Sagittarius Sun) and squares Mars in Pisces.

A Mars/Jupiter square is about big actions – bold, exaggerated, optimistic, risky. Even more so because Jupiter is at full strength in the sign it rules, and Mars is in fluid Pisces (no boundaries). There’s a sense of a massive push that can result in things going much further than anticipated. Mars in Pisces can drift into strange, distant waters.

Gemini is the sign of multiple choices and information, so this culmination may feature a flurry of options and words. You may feel pushed or rushed to choose/speak out, but Mercury (ruler of this Moon) is Rx in Sagittarius. This means the details of the story will have to be carefully examined. You’ll want to run faster/accelerate further, but the information will be in flux. And you may even be returning to something from the past.

It’s a difficult Moon due to the contrasting energies – bold, enthusiastic, dreamy actions/decisions versus the need to think twice and ask questions.

Best advice is slow down if you can. Look very carefully at the choices in front of you, before you leap. There may be a grand opportunity, but there’s a risk of missing a key detail or acting before you know the full story. Remember that things can change once Mercury stations direct (December 6th, 2018).

November 13th, 2018: Onwards

  • Moon in Capricorn square Venus Rx in Libra (25 deg)

  • Moon in Capricorn conjunct the South Node (29 deg)

  • Moon in Capricorn square Uranus Rx in Aries (29 deg)

  • Moon Void of Course in Capricorn (10:13 AM EST)

  • Moon enters Aquarius (10:45 AM EST)

  • Moon in Aquarius sextile Jupiter in Sagittarius (1 deg)

Things begin on a sober note as the authoritarian Capricorn Moon squares Venus Rx and conjoins the South Node: this is about revisiting a past relationship or self-esteem issue, and drawing that firm boundary. You’re saying goodbye or defining your parameters – pay attention to that sense of finality. Restrictions around what you want/love (or social tensions) are signs that it’s time to wrap something up.

As the Moon squares Uranus Rx, there may be a jolt or surprise that forcefully shatters any remaining limits or traditions from the past. The extremely brief Void of Course period gives you a bit of time to sit with what happened, then the Moon accelerates into detached Aquarius and makes a happy sextile to Jupiter. Watch for a significant energetic shift – a feeling of being lifted up and out. What weighed heavily on you is in your rearview mirror; it’s time to move on.

This aspect is all about future growth, hope and new possibilities.

  • Capricorn Moon sextile Neptune Rx in Pisces (13 deg)

  • Capricorn Moon conjunct Pluto (19 deg)

  • Capricorn Moon sextile Scorpio Sun (20 deg)

Today’s Waxing Sexitle is a point of ease – a chance to integrate the events of November 7th’s Scorpio New Moon. Moon/Neptune loosens the boundaries, allowing you to let go or go deeper. Too, issues of belief can be resolved. The conjunction to Pluto (ruler of Scorpio) adds emphasis to the Sun/Moon sextile- Capricorn’s structure (and Pluto’s power) give you something to work with, so you’re not floundering in Scorpio’s intense waters. You can gain traction around profound issues, a loss, death or deep Shadow work – use this to move forward and make the change.

Today’s energy can help you get comfortable with any deep transformations. You’ll find your footing if you tap into your inner authority or power (Capricorn is the key – be the adult, take responsibility, keep moving forward).

Overview

Ceres (nurturing, loss) enters Scorpio on November 11th. This brings us face to face with the intensity of this cycle, and the fact that we have limited control over certain things. There is profound loss but it always leads to rebirth and growth. Ceres in Scorpio can bring a “death” but also new life (Scorpio’s power lies in complete endings that pave the way for new beginnings).

Mars (actions, anger, initiative) enters Pisces on November 15th. This is not a comfortable position for Mars, because Pisces’ fluid energy means actions cannot be forced – the intuitive path is followed, and there is usually an area of flow that you hook into. The way forward will not be direct, and this can be frustrating. But Mars trines Ceres until November 25th, and this does suggest that actions will stimulate growth – you can actively nurture something, as long as you accept that there may be a release/loss as well. Mars/Ceres can be healing and comforting for those who give up some control.

Venus in Libra stations direct on November 16th. Venus stationed Rx on October 5th (in Scorpio) triggering a period of re-evaluation, past romantic connections and questions about values. This period is now at an end, and the first sign of progress may be a correction to an imbalance (Libra). However, Mercury in Sagittarius stations Rx on the same day, just before it makes an exact square to Neptune Rx in Pisces. There’s a confusing issue, lie or illusion in front of you, but it’s not time to confront it just yet. Mercury Rx will bring questions, more reviews and doubts/delays. Mercury stations direct on December 6th and perfects the square with Neptune on December 24th. Until this time, step back and consider any questions that come up. A lie/illusion may be dissolved on December 24th, but you’ve got some work to do in the meantime – sort through the various versions of the story and consider where you’re placing your faith.

Aries

Ceres into your sector of shared resources can activate issues of loss and/or nurturing in the areas of shared finances or intimacy. You may become aware that you only have so much control over certain resources and people. Mars into your hidden sector can activate secrets or unacknowledged issues (like anger or hidden desires). Or, this can be a time when you decide to pull back and rest/heal. The Mars/Ceres trine (until November 25th) can open up your awareness of unconditional nurturing, even in the face of loss. Watch for profound moments of acceptance, release or enhanced compassion.

Venus direct in your partnership sector signals progress for relationship issues that have been on hold or in review since October 5th. An imbalance may be corrected, or you/your partner may decide that it’s time to move on (or get closer).

Mercury Rx in your opportunities sector, square Neptune Rx, suggests that a glimpse of something greater (in the areas of travel, education, legal matters, publishing or ideals) can also be confusing or deceptive. A grand promise, fantasy or lie is hovering in the distance, but it’s time to pause and ask the necessary questions (perhaps about your own knowledge or faith). You’ll  confront the deception or uncover the missing info around December 24th.

Taurus

Ceres into your partnership sector can trigger parental issues in a relationship (specifically mothering issues) or enhance moments of nurturing/support between you and your partner. Mars into your social sector can activate idealistic actions with friends/groups/the public, and the Mars/Ceres trine (until November 25th) supports all relationships (one-on-one and group). Your efforts out there may be supported by a partner. Or, friends/the group may act to support your relationship. Excellent for reaching out to others.

Venus direct in your sector of routine can correct an imbalance regarding care for someone else, your self-care, a work relationship or your approach to health/daily routines. A period of review or corrections since October 5th is now at an end- it’s time to implement a new regime or make improvements based on your re-evaluation of the situation.

Mercury Rx in your sector of shared resources, square Neptune Rx, can stir up confusing details regarding shared finances or intimacy. More questions may be uncovered, or certain financial/personal details may be obscured. Before you sign any financial documents or commit to a deeper union, pause and consider what’s being revealed (you’ll uncover a truth on December 24th). This can also apply to psychological issues  – you may need to sort out what you really think on a deeper level.

Gemini

Ceres into your sector of routine can activate health/food issues, or a scenario involving caring intensively for someone else. Mars into your career sector suggests a new surge of enthusiasm and/or idealism for work (perhaps a new job). This is less about controlled actions and more about allowing yourself to move with events – go where the current takes you and act when it feels right. Mars trine Ceres (until November 25th) can align your daily routines/health with big-picture actions – you should have an instinctive sense of what you need to do to care for yourself, or someone else. Work may involve nurturing or unconditional service.

Venus direct in your sector of self-expression suggests it’s all systems go regarding an opportunity to get what you want. New romance, creative work or a chance to show off your talents can move on from delays/reviews that have been slowing you down since October 5th. Even if you don’t get everything you want (the romance fizzles, the goal is revealed to be undesirable) trust that you’re moving in the right direction.

Meanwhile, Mercury Rx in your partnership sector can see you revisiting a previous relationship conversation, or going back over promises that were made. It’s time to look more closely at what a partner is saying, or what you expect to hear. The approaching square to Neptune Rx suggests you’ll touch on confusing or deceptive goals/ideals – you may discover a mismatch between what they say and what you want to hear. Be extra careful if this is a business situation – don’t buy into what’s being said until you get all the details. December 24th will present a confrontation between truth and deception (or self-deception).

Cancer

Ceres into your sector of self-expression emphasizes mother’s nurturing. The growth of a creative potential will become important, and issues with children may be favoured. Mars into your sector of opportunities can fire up a big dream or future possibility in the areas of travel, education, legal matters, publishing or ideals. This is new territory and almost anything goes – you won’t be able to plan for what’s happening, so allow yourself to trust and follow what you have faith in. At the same time, remember that you’re more vulnerable to external influences – use caution and if it feels too risky, step back. The Mars/Ceres trine (until November 25th) can activate a new potential with tons of future growth. Your efforts to move outside your comfort zone will contribute to the growth of something precious.

Venus direct in your domestic sector signals progress around home/family issues that have been on hold since October 5th. The time of looking back is over – step forward with  what you’ve learned from your evaluations of home finances, parental or family dynamics. You should have a clearer sense of where the true value is and how to rebalance family relationships.

Mercury Rx in your sector of routine asks you to double check, watch for missing info and ask more questions. A solution, improvement or diagnosis (involving health or work ) may involve some confusion or overlooked details – the approaching square to Neptune Rx can undermine your practicality, increase your paranoia or see you making mistakes. Assume that it’s not quite correct, and look to December 24th for a final confrontation with what needs to be precise.

Leo

Ceres into your domestic sector can bring up parental issues, especially mother/child dynamics from deep in the past. A current area of family nurturing may be dominant, or this could be about you making home a safe place for yourself. Mars into your sector of shared resources can activate passion, feelings of being vulnerable/out of control or increased activity with shared finances. The Mars/Ceres trine (until November 25th) can bring you and someone closer together, although the trigger may be their actions. Too, you could delve into family history/secrets and access compassion, healing and unconditional care around uncomfortable or frightening issues.

Venus direct in your communication sector can present an answer or conclusion to a conversation that’s been undecided or in review since October 5th. Too, contact with someone from the past could end, or progress to the next chapter. Venus direct can also spell the end of waffling or incessantly weighing the pros and cons.

Mercury Rx in your sector of self-expression can see you questioning a new attraction, creative project or issue with children. Delays or a change of heart can be made more confusing by the approaching square to Neptune Rx. In some cases, you may have to deal with attractive but deceptive words, or wishful thinking. Remind yourself that things are still in flux, and there will be a final confrontation with a deception or illusion on December 24th.

Virgo

Ceres into your communication sector can introduce a intense agreement (involving loss or fear of loss) or a deeply nurturing conversation. Mars into your partnership sector can activate someone else’s charm/magic that turns your head. A partner’s actions can be very convincing and/or compassionate, and in general, you may find yourself vulernable to what other people do. Stay on your toes. Having aid this, the Mars/Ceres trine (until  November 25th) can open up a profoundly healing and unconditional connection between you and another. An agreement may be part of this – be aware that you may have to give something up to get what you want. Or accept what’s normally unacceptable in favour of the bigger picture.

Venus direct in your sector of personal resources suggests confirming what you want, or what you’re getting, regarding money, a relationship or personal values. After much evaluation (since October 5th) you should now have an idea where you stand, what you’re worth and what the next step is.

Mercury Rx in your domestic sector suggests a return to past family conversations or a review of family history. Too, there can be do-overs or delays reading a rental, renovation or home purchase. The approaching square to Neptune Rx suggests touching on confusing messages from a partner, or miscommunications regarding mutual goals. It may be time to look back in order to get to the truth. December 24th will see you approaching this issue again, and turning the corner (towards clarity).

Libra

Ceres into your sector of personal resources can indicate an intensified focus on baseline needs. Looking after self or others becomes primal, with money and immediate securities emphasized. Mars into your sector of routine can activate more work and health issues while increasing your vulnerability to influences in your immediate surroundings. The Mars/Ceres trine (until November 25th) suggests the potential to increase your security as actions to improve or correct support financial and emotional nurturing. This may be about doing something unconditionally for another, or shifting your actions so you can enhance a situation. A new financial/work agreement may be featured.

Venus direct in your sign can signal an end to delays, looking back or hesitation that’s been in effect since October 5th. Watch for a solidified sense of who you are, what you want and what you’re worth. You may be done with a past relationship.

Mercury Rx in your communication sector can see you reconsidering a promise/idea, or returning to a previous conversation. The applying square to Neptune can blur certain details or make the truth a shifting target – all the more reason to take a step back and examine the story. You’ll confront this issue again on December 24th.

Scorpio

Ceres into your sign can enhance mothering/nurturing issues while making you aware of what you have, what you have to lose and what you have limited control over. Ceres hi-lights the ongoing cycle of loss and rebirth, so with enhanced nurturing comes enhanced awareness that nothing lasts forever. Mars into your sector of self-expression can activate a dream or ideal regarding a new attraction, creative work or children. You could be motivated to pursue what/who you want, and the trine to Ceres (until November 25th) gives you the power to create something special. Whether you’re looking after another human being or nurturing your own potential/talent, this is potent energy that gives you the ability to manifest. Just be aware that it’s all part of a cycle.

Venus direct in your hidden sector suggests the time is ripe to say goodbye or move forward with a hidden potential. A delay or quiet contemplation that’s been in effect since October 5th is now ended – the next chapter is here.

Mercury Rx in your sector of personal resources can raise questions about money, self-esteem or personal values. A financial agreement may be delayed, or your communication about what you must have may be less clear than you thought. The applying square to Neptune Rx can raise doubts and mixed messages – put the plans/conversation on hold for now and review your must-haves. As of December 24th you’ll be directly confronting a lie, fantasy or missing detail.

Sagittarius

Ceres into your hidden sector highlights the contrast between nurturing and loss. There may be someone/something you need to let go of (illness could be involved) or this could be about a truly unconditional act of caring (with some sacrifice involved). Mars into your domestic sector can activate family issues or repairs/breakdowns around the home. The theme will be lack of boundaries/structure and the need to go with the flow – you’ll accomplish more if you allow rather than force. The Mars/Ceres trine (until November 25th) suggests empathy, deep caring and healing can be achieved with your actions, if you’re ready to release something from the past. Too, this can be about self-care, retreat and alone time.

Venus direct in your social sector can bring progress and clarity to an issue involving friends, groups or your public image. Your connection with someone from the past may conclude, or you may feel more certain about a relationship as you achieve an equitable exchange. This can wrap up events that have been on hold since October 5th.

However, Mercury Rx in your sign can see you confronting a fresh batch of questions and reviews, perhaps in a different area, or related to the above. Mercury Rx can derail plans, lead to miscommunications or make it difficult to get your message across. The applying square to Neptune Rx suggests approaching an undermining or confusing domestic issue, then taking a step back to regroup. Take your time and don’t rush to make a decision- you’ll have another chance to confront this around December 24th.

Capricorn

Ceres into your social sector can raise issues of nurturing a friendship or nurturing on a public scale. Mars into your communication sector can fire up idealistic communication or passionate conversations, and the Mars/Ceres trine (until November 25th) suggests reaching out to others and making effective, compassionate statements. Too, there could be an agreement (verbal or written) that involves you having to let something go in order to get what you want.

Venus direct in your career sector can put an end to delays regarding a new job, professional relationship or your professional image. The re-evaluation (since October 5th) is now over and you should feel more certain about your next step or who you want to align yourself with. A power imbalance can be corrected.

However, Mercury Rx in your hidden sector can stir up questions on a deeper level. You may find yourself contemplating issues of faith, belief, loss or where your path leads. The applying square to Neptune Rx can open you up to creativity and enhanced intuition, but it can also symbolize a vague and confusing issue that you don’t want to look at too closely. There could be missing/hidden information or even some deceptions. Don’t rush this – allow the facts to emerge in their own time, and watch for December 24th when you turn a corner on this and arrive at some clarity.

Aquarius

Ceres into your career sector suggests a professional goal that you’re nurturing, or a professional situation with potential for growth. Mars into your sector of personal resources can increase ambitions to earn more, look out for yourself or take care of the basics. You may reconnect with someone from your past, or return to a previous conversation/promise. The applying square to Neptune Rx suggests a point of miscommunication, suspicious promises or doubts – for now, you’ll be backing away from this and reviewing the content of the story/ideal that’s in front of you. The terms of a public agreement may be up for review. December 24th will feature a final confrontation and answer regarding this issue.

Pisces

Ceres into your sector of opportunities suggests strong growth potential in the areas of travel, education, legal matters or publishing. Something new and hopeful is ready to be nurtured, and the trine to Mars in your sign (until November 25th) suggests you have the power to make this happen. It could be a question of strengthened faith, along with initiative – where do you want to go? Remembering that Ceres is about the cycle of growth and loss, the best way to approach this is to move with the flow of events. There should be a path that feels natural – take it and see where it leads.

Venus direct in your sector of shared resources can clarify values/resources in the areas of debs, taxes, loans, your partner’s finances or intimacy. An imbalance between you and another can be clarified/adjusted, or it could be time to move forward to the next chapter.

Mercury Rx in your career sector can raise questions regarding a career goal, your professional image, a contract or conversation with management. The applying square to Neptune Rx in your sign suggests missing information or unsubstantiated details. For now, it’s best to put the decision on hold and review your options. If this involves your business communication, make sure that you’re not omitting any pertinent information or blurring the details.
