  • Waxing Trine between the Gemini Moon and Aquarius Sun (26 deg)

  • Sun in Aquarius inconjunct the Cancer North Node/Moon in Gemini inconjunct the Capricorn South Node (26 deg)

The Waxing Trine promises smooth progress and integration between new facts/communication and the group. Social media is favoured as a tool. This is an easy influence that supports the exchange of fresh ideas and innovation with everyone. Info can move quickly and words will be sharp, witty and unique.

However, the Sun and Moon make inconjuncts (aspects of incompatibility) to the North and South Nodes respectively. This means new information/choices may interfere with the path that takes you from old rules/limits/repression to a more sensitive, feeling place.

Detachment and social media can distance you so much that you lose sight of what matters emotionally. And yet, with the inconjunct, you need to work both sides. So the flow of ideas is still important as long as you don’t allow this to distract you from your path: honouring your needs and learning where it’s safe to be vulnerable.

Mars’ Transit of Taurus: Trust Your Body

Mars enters Fixed Earth sign Taurus on February 14th. Actions, anger, sexual energy and initiative become focused on survival – what’s real and most valuable.

This is a deliberate placement for Mars. It’s about doing what needs to be done in order to survive and thrive. Momentum can slow which will allow you to carefully consider your next move. This is not about impulse or risk – don’t try to rush or push a situation faster/further than it wants to go. Mars in Taurus is patient and focused on long-term gain. This is a builder’s energy – many actors known for their amazing physiques have natal Mars in Taurus.

Consider what you can build during this transit. Don’t expect quick results, but imagine what you could accomplish if you focused your energy in the same direction, day after day? Taurus is about routine, and this is the building block of all great accomplishments.

This transit is excellent for looking out for yourself in a financial or emotional situation. It can also be an intensely sensual and indulgent influence as physicality and comfort are emphasized. Mars in Taurus can be basic – if it feels good it’s a yes and if it doesn’t feel good it’s a no. Pay attention to what feels pleasurable/secure. Watch for physical reactions that tell you if a scenario is positive or not – trust your body.

Here are the aspects Mars in Taurus will make:

  • Feb 27th: sextile the Pisces Sun (9 deg)

  • Feb 28th: inconjunct Ceres in Sagittarius (9 deg)

  • Mar 10th: sextile Neptune in Pisces (16 deg)

  • Mar 14th: trine Saturn in Capricorn (18 deg)

  • Mar 20th: trine Pluto in Capricorn (22 deg)

  • Mar 21st: inconjunct Jupiter in Sagittarius (23 deg)

  • Mar 22nd: trine the Capricorn South Node (24 deg)

  • Mar 22nd: sextile Vesta in Pisces (24 deg)

  • Mar 23rd: inconjunct Pallas Rx in Libra (25 deg)

  • Mar 24th: square Black Moon Lilith in Aquarius (25 deg)

  • Mar 31st: Gemini ingress

  • Mercury in Pisces square Ceres in Sagittarius (5 deg)

  • Mercury in Pisces conjunct Vesta (5 deg)

  • Mars in Aries conjunct Uranus (29 deg)

  • Mars in Aries opposite Pallas in Libra (29 deg)

Mercury/Vesta

The Mercury/Vesta conjunction activates yesterday’s Vesta/Ceres square.

“Vesta in Pisces wants to withdraw and contemplate while Ceres in Sag wants to overwhelm with expansive care and protection. Vesta in Pisces is pure and spiritual (or magical) while Ceres in Sag can trample over sensitivities in the rush to nurture (and the rush to do what’s best).”

Mercury/Vesta indicates absolute focus on a spiritual idea or a dream – gazing at what can’t be fully seen or devoting yourself to a compassionate/ethereal concept. Meditating on the whisper. The square to Ceres suggests this information will clash with expansive (and loud) attempts at nurturing. Someone may be saying “No” to caring efforts or disagreeing with a philosophy of mothering. Basically, yesterday’s tension is put into words as the quiet voice disagrees with the bold proclamation of nurturing.

Mars/Uranus

The Mars/Uranus conjunction in the final degree of Aries indicates a last chance to break away, fight or escape. This volatile energy demands freedom to act but it’s easy to get carried away and take unwise risks.

Something needs to end (or be ignited) but remember that this energy can be accident-prone if mishandled. Impulse control is nonexistent. The opposition to Pallas suggests sudden actions will disrupt a social or relationship strategy. There may be impatience with the polite approach or a powerful desire to burn through the niceties and assert the truth/your will.

There’s potential for positive and negative here. Much depends on what’s being burnt away. Carefully consider what you’re asserting and why. Is it really necessary to burn that bridge? It might be, but know that what you set fire to will be gone for good – even if you’re igniting a new beginning, the fuel will be artifacts from the past.

Combined with Mercury/Vesta’s focus, we have an interesting mix of hot and cool. Calm and agitated. Actions are incendiary but thoughts and words can help you see beyond the heat or anger. Pay attention to the quiet voice – what’s it saying?

Full Moon in Virgo: Only the Beginning

John Atkinson Grimshaw

John Atkinson Grimshaw

The February 19th Full Moon (0 deg Virgo) illuminates issues of improvement, correction, perfection and assistance (Virgo themes). The results or endings will involve a key detail or area of refinement- make it better or fix it altogether.

The Moon trines Mars (actions) in earthy, Fixed Taurus, so results will be driven by patience and determination. What manifests will be real (note the emphasis on Earth signs) and Mars in Taurus is about actions that stabilize and encourage growth.

So this Full Moon is an opportunity to literally make something better. To see solid results that anchor you in the here and how. Actions will flow slowly but harmoniously.

However, in contrast to this grounded energy, Mercury (ruler of this Moon) conjoins dreamy Neptune (ruler of the Pisces Sun). Neptune dissolves reality but in this case it’s given some definition by the sextile to Saturn in Capricorn. So we have the ruler of this Moon activating January 31st’s Saturn/Neptune sextile:

“Form (Saturn) harmonizes with what dissolves (Neptune) form for subtle but effective energy. This is the aspect for gradual changes to rules or structure.

But Saturn and Neptune together also imply some kind of sacrifice. Specifically, Saturn’s reality puts limits on Neptune’s dreams. Even though the sextile is a harmonious aspect, there will still be a small sacrifice required to get what you want. You will have to work extra hard and give something up in order to create. You will have to be patient and serene but also disciplined.”

An opposition (the Full Moon) along the Virgo/Pisces axis does strongly resonate with sacrifice. When the rulers of each end of an opposition conjoin, you have a chance to find that balance point. The sweet spot between Virgo’s perfect reality and Pisces’ exalted dream. The unification of practicality and compassion. But there will probably be a sacrifice connected to that Jan 31st issue- an awareness of the details (Mercury) of what you need to give up, or a verbal/written acknowledgment of what’s right and wrong.

Stil. Mercury/Neptune is always a bit tricky – you cannot completely trust this info because Neptune blurs the details. And, this is the first of three conjunctions Mercury will make to Neptune due to its upcoming Rx (see this post for dates and degrees). So what the light of this Full Moon reveals is only the start. It will be real, but this result will not be final – more details will emerge as the information shifts.

Consider it a work in progress.

Regulus

As a side note, this Moon will also conjoin fixed star Regulus, one of the four Royal Stars. Previously in Leo (the heart of the lion) Regulus entered Virgo on Nov 28th, 2011. This powerful star can be associated with success, victory and courage. But if someone under its influence takes revenge, there will be a dramatic fall.

Regulus into Virgo shifted the proud Leo energy into the humbler sign of the Virgin, suggesting a more oblique expression of courage and success. Perhaps the enhanced awareness of what must be given up in order to gain. Perhaps the courage to make that sacrifice.

The trine to Mars suggests an undercurrent of assertiveness, but not expressed in the typical way. Keeping in mind that the Mercury/Neptune conjunction speaks to a story that will shift and unfold over the next couple of months, you may have to contend with delayed or atypical success. What you think is “correct” could morph over time. And, this Moon does take place at 0 degrees, so you’re at the start of Virgo/Pisces (with the Sun’s Pisces ingress occurring one day earlier). Events will not be neatly wrapped up and your fix could uncover new errors. One never knows with Neptune (and Mercury Rx).

Take it as it comes and focus on what you can do right now. Then allow events to pull you forward and see what unfolds.

Feb 12th, 2019: Ground Yourself

  • First Quarter Square between the Taurus Moon and Aquarius Sun (23 deg)

  • Vesta in Pisces square Ceres in Sagittarius (5 deg)

The First Quarter Square brings a crisis between liberation (Aquarius) and routine (Taurus). What’s new and unusual may now feel a bit too crazy and you may encounter a block that forces you to slow down.

This square is the “crisis in action” aspect so forward movement is still necessary, but in this case it’s movement of a different kind. Rather than floating above the issue and exploring the theoretical what ifs, it’s time to come down to earth and take slow, solid steps. This might feel a bit dull, but it’s necessary so you can ground yourself.

The square between Vesta (devotion) and Ceres (nurturing) tells us a bit more about today’s tension. Vesta in Pisces wants to withdraw and contemplate while Ceres in Sag wants to overwhelm with expansive care and protection. Vesta in Pisces is pure and spiritual (or magical) while Ceres in Sag can trample over sensitivities in the rush to nurture (and the rush to do what’s best).

Consider how the dynamics of withdrawal versus nurturing are playing out now – there could be a crisis of faith around mothering or care for someone who is ill (perhaps they don’t want help or require a different kind of nurturing).
