October 21st, 2017: Vesta in Libra Square Pluto

  • Pluto in Capricorn square Vesta in Libra: 16 deg

Sometimes devotion becomes obsession. For example, when you’re driven to achieve specific results in a relationship, whether or not the other person is on board. As I noted in this post, Vesta’s extreme focus in Libra can hi-light an imbalance. Pressure from Pluto (in the form of a power struggle or overpowering urge to make a partnership perfect) can push things over the edge.

Are fixated on the ideal relationship? Is someone attempting to overpower you by desecrating your sacred partnership rules? If you’re trying to pressure someone into doing things your way, or they’re insisting that the exchange must happen in a way you find objectionable, it’s time to step back. As soon as anyone reaches the point of “this must happen and you’re going to agree with me” you know you’re in distorted Pluto territory.

The crisis of this square will trigger evolution as Vesta’s sacred limits are challenged.

October 18th, 2017: Battle For The Truth, Featuring Lilith

  • Mercury in Scorpio conjunct Jupiter: 1 degree
  • Mars in Virgo square Black Moon Lilith in Sagittarius: 27 degrees

Mercury/Jupiter opens the Scorpio can of worms. Secrets and frighteningly intimate facts expand to the point where they cannot be ignored. But Jupiter is also about intuition and faith. So the upside is a rare opportunity to unite logic with intuition, and power ahead based on the confidence that you’ve got it right. And you probably do have it right, if you’re giving voice to your intuition. This energy can also help you mine hidden strategies and resources – you may have more than you think.

Mars’ male energy challenges Lilith’s mouthy outsider in a battle of sexual power. Sagittarius is ruled by Jupiter, and Virgo is ruled by Mercury, so this square is directly tied into the Mercury/Jupiter conjunction. Disruptive female energy is given a voice and Jupiter in Scorpio suggests more stories will rise from the depths. As I wrote in this post, Lilith in Sag has a crusade.

In general terms, the square between Virgo and Sag represents the tension between details and the big story. Also, the truth (Sagittarius) about what’s wrong (Virgo). Facts will be disputed, and the battle may be about details that seem insignificant. If you’re caught up in a battle, know that little inaccuracies and picky details are not inconsequential. Honour your facts. And don’t allow yourself to be intimidated (Mars) by someone who uses guilt and shame (Virgo) as a weapon (Mars).

The above works both ways. If you want to speak, speak your truth. If you don’t want to speak, that’s your right as well.

Mercury’s Transit of Scorpio: Unspeakable

Mercury enters Scorpio on October 17th. Communication becomes raw, uncomfortable and honest.

Scorpio’s honesty is based on taboos, secrets and hidden strategies. Mercury in Scorpio is the detective, researcher and quiet observer. Nothing is said impulsively. There is a protracted period of internal analysis, and then all the layers are peeled back. What comes out can be intimate or ugly, but it will be true.

Sometimes this can be a quiet transit, because Scorpio is intensely private. But with Mercury’s conjunction to Jupiter on October 18th, silence is doubtful. Mercury/Jupiter is the big mouth – the call for truth, the persuasive sale pitch or the exaggerated pronouncement. We must always be aware that Jupiter’s enthusiasm can push things too far. Do you want to know…everything? Are you prepared for the reaction when you drop that verbal depth-charge?

If you’re smart about this transit, you can learn quite a bit and it will benefit you. Decide if you really want to know. If the answer is “yes” use what you learn with caution. Don’t treat it lightly, don’t take it for granted and don’t ignore it, if it turns out to be heavier than anticipated.

Here are the aspects Mercury in Scorpio will make:

  • Oct 18th: conjunct Jupiter (1 deg)
  • Oct 22nd: opposite Pallas Rx (7 deg Taurus)
  • Oct 22nd: square Ceres (9 deg Leo)
  • Oct 24th: trine Neptune Rx (11 deg Pisces)
  • Oct 24th: sextile Juno (11 deg Capricorn)
  • Oct 27th: sextile Pluto (17 deg Capricorn)
  • Oct 30th: square the Nodes (21 deg Leo/Aquarius)
  • Nov 2nd: trine Chiron Rx (24 deg Pisces)
  • Nov 2nd: inconjunct Uranus Rx (25 deg Aries)
  • Nov 5th: Sagittarius ingress

Overview

October 17th sees Mercury’s Scorpio ingress. Secrets, deep truths and transformative facts will be given a voice, and this will be amplified by Mercury’s conjunction with Jupiter on October 18th. Here we have a powerful combination of detail (Mercury) and vision (Jupiter) in a sign that demands absolutes. Words and ideas will have a massive impact.

The October 19th Libra New Moon opposes Uranus Rx in Aries and makes an awkward inconjunct to Chiron Rx in Pisces. What begins will be quick and disruptive/exciting. Events will not be moderate, and there’s bound to be some vulnerabilities triggered (even if events are relatively positive). Mars’ Libra ingress on October 22nd adds more fuel to an already volatile situation. Mars activates and motivates, even in a sign that’s not know for being assertive. The time for indecision is over – the Uranus-powered New Moon and Mars may force your hand. Having said this, Libra-flavoured Mars acts indirectly and the dynamic of action/reaction will be crucial. Be aware of projection and return fire.

Aries

Mercury into your sector of shared resources conjoins Jupiter, amplifying discussions about debts, taxes, loans, your partner’s finances or physical/emotional intimacy. Shared information or financial documents can become overwhelmingly important, along with an obsessive drive to learn more or convince the other person. Breadth and depth of knowledge are enhanced, therefore, this influence favours psychological work and research.

The New Moon in your partnership sector (opposite Uranus Rx in your sign) suggests a new relationship can hit out of the blue. Someone could appear to be the embodiment of your craving for a fresh start/freedom – you attract what you put out. An existing relationship could be rocked by unexpected developments. Even if you are the instigator, the speed and force of impact may catch you off guard. Mars into your partnership sector adds more fuel to the above events, with increased passion and/or arguments. If you’re looking for a challenge, this is it.

Taurus

Mercury into your relationship sector conjoins Jupiter, opening up an intimate discussion in a new or existing relationship. Deep honesty is combined with optimism and the desire to know more (or know everything) about each other. For some, discussions may feel a bit pushy if you’re not accustomed to full disclosure and probing questions.

The New Moon in your sector of routine suggests an abrupt new beginning involving work routines, health or co-worker relationships. The unexpected can disrupt your habits and see you scrambling to accommodate extra demands. It may take you some time to regain your balance and find a consistent approach. Mars’ move into this sector can add more work/obligations, but also more energy for you to tackle it all. These influences can be accident-prone, so use some caution.

Gemini

Mercury into your sector of routine conjoins Jupiter, bringing new (and perhaps overwhelming) information about work tasks or health issues. On the plus side, you’ll be ready to dig deep for solutions – a fix could could be bigger and better than anticipated.  Conversations with medical professionals or co-workers can be fruitful. Challenging possibilities include the emergence of unpleasant, previously hidden facts. Too, you may develop a fixation with a particular work/health issue.

The New Moon in your sector of self-expression suggests a startling development involving creative work/performance, a new attraction or children/pregnancy. This can be the time to go public or openly express your desires, but be aware that the reactions of others will be unexpected. Mars’ move into this sector will fire up your desire to play, create, impress or show off. If you’re comfortable with the New Moon’s events, Mars can encourage you to take things further.

Cancer

Mercury into your sector of self-expression conjoins Jupiter, urging you to communicate openly and passionately. A new attraction, creative work or issues involving children/pregnancy are supported, with optimistic news that boosts your confidence. Excellent for impressing others with your thoughts, or simply writing/saying more.

The New Moon in your domestic sector suggests surprising developments at home, with family or with a home business will be connected to changes in your professional life. An abrupt shift in future goals, a new job or break from an existing job can hit suddenly, with a dramatic rebalancing of personal priorities. Mars into your domestic sector can add fuel to these changes as you prepare to relocate, juice up your home business or make improvements around the home.

Leo

Mercury into your domestic sector conjoins Jupiter, increasing the impact of family discussions or home documents. There will be more to discuss or sign, and information from the past may be dredged up. You can make serious headway with a frustrating subject that’s been simmering for awhile, but be prepared for the floodgates to open if sensitive family issues are touched on.

The New Moon in your communication sector suggests an abrupt realization, announcement or conversation can open your eyes to a whole new reality. Information can hit quickly, or you may make a snap decision. Mars’ move into this sector adds passion and/or anger to what you’re communicating – you could be motivated to speak out, demand more or (conversely) someone could challenge you. Mars may not be super aggressive in Libra, but anger/assertiveness is still expressed, albeit with a social gloss.

Virgo

Mercury into your communication sector conjoins Jupiter, adding depth and persuasion to your words. If you have something to announce or discuss, this is the ideal influence – intensity will combine with intellectual depth and optimism. Also excellent for studying. Too, you could be the recipient of a powerful conversation or offer that captivates you with intriguing possibilities.

The New Moon in your sector of personal resources suggests surprising developments with earned money, security or self-esteem. Issues with intimacy, debts, taxes or a partner’s finances can have an unforeseen impact on what you own or what makes you feel good/stable. Too, you may suddenly decide to change the way you’ve been doing business, with new rates or demands for compensation. Mars’ move into this sector increases your drive to push for more.

Libra

Mercury into your sector of personal resources conjoins Jupiter, helping you get more from discussions about salary, self-esteem or security. You’re hooked into savvy and intuitive energy – if you have a request involving what you want or earn, speak up. You’ll know what’s best for you, and you can be quite persuasive.

The New Moon in your sign can quickly propel you into a new chapter regarding relationships, public identity, lifestyle or physical appearance. Beginnings will be swift and uncompromising. There can be excitement, but you may also feel a bit rattled as events trigger insecurities around health, work or daily routines. Mars’ move into your sign helps you out with added courage and assertiveness (delivered with full social awareness, of course).

Scorpio

Mercury’s move into your sign, and the conjunction with Jupiter, gifts you with persuasion, powerful insight and the ability to sell/promote/convince. You can get your point across and win others over with your intense conviction, backed up by knowledge and intuition. This is a winning combination. It also suggests the exposure of buried information could be to your advantage, even if the initial reveal makes you uncomfortable.

The New Moon in your hidden sector suggests surprising reveals about background issues. Health or work routines could be jolted as something new comes to light, and you may still not have all the information. As Mars enters your hidden sector, it’s time to dig deeper and bank your efforts, until Mars enters your sign. Prepare, but don’t act (yet).

Sagittarius

Mercury into your hidden sector conjoins Jupiter, allowing you access unusual, hidden or intuitive sources of information. What’s not obvious or logical will be important – pay attention to behind-the-scenes issues and developing potentials. Dreams could be especially clarifying.

The New Moon in your social sector can bring surprising public events/displays, or abrupt developments with friends/groups. A significant meeting could catch you off guard. The reactions of others to your launch/performance/announcement could have a more powerful impact than you anticipated. The reveal of something personal (or something in your domestic life) could also make you feel uneasy. As Mars enters this sector, the pace will increase – people will react even more strongly to what you’re putting out, and you will be motivated to make your point or push forward with your project. This energy is volatile, but if handled correctly, you can make a significant impact that draws favourable attention your way. “Correctly” means being conscious of how your actions impact others, and avoiding the urge to project anger/impatience.

Capricorn

Mercury into your social sector conjoins Jupiter, giving you the upper hand in all communication involving friends, groups or the public. Your words will be powerful and convincing, and you’ll also have the ability to zero in on the truth (even if someone is hiding it from you). Excellent for selling, promoting, a public launch, publication or speech.

The New Moon in your career sector can throw you a curve ball regarding a new job, new development at work/with management or a development at home that impacts your career goals. What appeared to be settled may do a complete 180, and your view of success/the future could change. Mars’ move into this sector ups your determination to succeed or compete as you play the game – you’ve got energy to fuel your ambitions, even if you’re dealing with the unanticipated.

Aquarius

Mercury into your career sector conjoins Jupiter, giving you power for discussions with management, a job search or promoting your business. Expansive vision combines with eloquence and an eye for strategic details, as well as the ability to promote yourself. Excellent for making decisions about your future.

The New Moon in your sector of opportunities suggests surprising developments in the areas of long-distance travel, education, legal matters or publishing. A new door into the unknown could open unexpectedly, or you could make an abrupt decision/announcement about your future plans. Some of this may be triggered by financial or emotional insecurities. Mars’ move into this sector can increase your drive to push further into new territory, fight for a cause or agitate for something you believe in. There is also the possibility of a short, unexpected trip.

Pisces

Mercury enters your sector of opportunities and conjoins Jupiter, focusing you on something intriguing in the areas of long-distance travel, education, legal matters or publishing. You could learn of something unusual or untried, and you may be a bit intimated by the amount of commitment expected. Know that this could be quite good for you. Too, this is an excellent influence if you’re looking for a wider audience for your words.

The New Moon in your sector of shared resources suggests a sudden shift in the balance of what you owe or share. Debts, taxes, loans, your partner’s finances or physical/emotional intimacy can accelerate into a new chapter, or change the balance of power between you and another. The inconjunct to Chiron Rx in your sign suggests you may feel uneasy with these changes, whether or not they present something favourable. Mars’ move into your shared resources sector can increase passion and/or anger between you and another, or it can stir up buried resentments about what you have to pay off. On the plus side, you’ll be highly motivated to make some changes, even if you don’t have complete control over what’s happening.
