Overview

Jupiter and Pluto: Big Success

January 15th brings the first of three sextiles (a harmonious aspect) between Jupiter in Scorpio and Pluto in Capricorn (at 19 deg). While the aspect is exact on this date, it’s been building since (roughly) January 1st, 2018. 

It’s always significant when outer planets aspect each other – the stakes seem to be higher and the impact is greater. Jupiter (in Pluto-ruled Scorpio) expands whatever it touches, and in this case, it’s expanding Pluto’s power and transformative potential. Any aspect between Jupiter and Pluto has the potential to bring success due to increased confidence (some might say pushiness). There’s a drive to go further (Jupiter) and this is intensified by Pluto’s desire to go deeper.

Faith and the push for truth can intensify: this will empower you. On a more mundane level, these planets support business and financial success – expanding your resources and your impact on others. The ease of the sextile means these energies will not be diminished, but they may sneak up on you in the form of an opportunity that quietly unfolds. You’ll have to do something with this if you want to reap the benefits. 

Fortunately, Mars in Scorpio set things in motion with its conjunction to Jupiter (January 6th) and sextile to Pluto (January 8th). If you acted during this time, it’s possible that you’ll be reaping the rewards.

New Moon: New Rules

January 16th is the date of the Capricorn New Moon, which conjoins Venus. There’s a detailed post about it here, but briefly, know that this Moon squares Uranus/Pallas, so plans for what you want/love (Venus) will probably be disrupted. The surprise could be unpleasant or sweet – anything goes with Uranus.

Mercury in Capricorn conjoins Black Moon Lilith on the same day, so dark/taboo female energy will be up for discussion. Capricorn suggests it will be an official discussion of some kind, or maybe a judgement. Along with the square to Uranus, there’s a sense of shocking but necessary exposure. Stepping away from the rules and declaring a new order. Note the rebellious female energy – Venus square Uranus and outsider Lilith. And, we also have a conjunction between Ceres and the North Node in Leo – nurturing/creating as the path forward. 

There are three, very different feminine archetypes activated during this Moon. The traditional definition of love and beauty (Venus) the witch/dark woman/raw woman (Lilith) and the mother (Ceres). 

Aquarius Season: Celebrating The Individual

On January 17th, Venus enters Uranus-ruled Aquarius. After the surprising New Moon, she’s ready to fully be herself, no matter what. Venus in Aquarius favours what’s new, unusual and non-judgemental. Uniqueness is celebrated in relationships, beauty and values. Odd is attractive. On January 19th, the Sun enters Aquarius, kicking off the season of the individual. After the structured severity of duty-bound Capricorn, this shift into Aquarius should feel especially bright and encouraging.  

On January 12th 2020, Saturn will conjoin Pluto at 22 degrees Capricorn. Overview

The Sun/Venus Conjunction

January 9th features a superior conjunction of Venus and the Sun at 18 deg Capricorn. In the Sun/Venus cycle, this is a culmination, and it’s connected to the previous (inferior) Sun/Venus conjunction of March 25th, 2017, at 4 deg Aries. Venus was Rx at that time, and it was a beginning which has led to the current Sun/Venus result – a solid (Capricorn) manifestation of what you want or love, firmly defined by current rules and traditions. There’s an aura of restraint (Capricorn) that does not diminish the sweetness of what you’ve earned. 

Venus and the Sun conjoin Pluto (at 19 deg) on January 9th, which adds significant power and long-term potential to what’s manifesting. A helpful sextile from Mars in Scorpio to all three planets (on January 8th, 9th and 10th) adds drive and forward movement that’s based on the deepest commitment and intense desire to make it happen. This culmination will connect to the next Sun/Venus Rx conjunction (another beginning), at 3 deg Scorpio on October 26th, 2018. 

Mercury Into Capricorn

Mercury’s Capricorn ingress takes place on January 11th, and on January 13th, Mercury will conjoin Saturn at 2 deg. This is the last of three Mercury/Saturn conjunctions. November 18th, 2017 was the first conjunction (27 deg Sagittarius) but the story/decision featured delays or changes once Mercury stationed Rx. The second conjunction (Mercury Rx conjunct Saturn  on December 6th, 2017 at 28 deg) was the redo, or questions about the rules. After the back and forth of Mercury retrograde, this final conjunction can bring a welcome result and clearly defined decision. In general, Mercury in Capricorn suggests well-formed ideas that are articulated successfully. 

But. There are still a couple of changes coming up, so you’ll need to be flexible. Also on January 13th, Venus in Capricorn squares Uranus, followed by the Sun (squaring Uranus) on January 14th. The basic foundation should be set, and your ultimate focus/decision should be correct. But leave room for the unexpected, and be prepared to break with some traditions that are no longer valid. 

Aries

Sun/Venus in your career sector can deliver a lucrative result involving a work relationship, your professional image or future goals. What began around March 25th, 2017 (with the previous Sun/Venus conjunction in your sign) can come to fruition. This may have been a very personal ambition, based on an instinctive pull towards what you truly wanted. Now, Pluto adds power and far-reaching success. Uranus stations direct (at 24 degrees Aries) on January 2nd, kicking off its final chapter in this sign. Uranus first entered Aries on May 27th, 2010 and will exit Aries for Taurus on May 15th, 2018 (Uranus will briefly reenter Aries from November 6th, 2018-March 6th, 2019).
