New Moon in Leo and Mercury Direct: It’s Obvious

The July 31st New Moon in Leo (8 deg) conjoins Venus (at 4 deg). So this should be a bold, beautiful beginning (involving relationships, finances of self-esteem). It won’t be subtle, because Venus in Leo wants the big, bright thing.

And this is emphasized by a square to Uranus in Venus-ruled Taurus: add in some risk and the bang of unexpected developments. What you suddenly want may surprise you. You may surprise others with a daring display of self-expression. A new relationship/financial development can grab your attention and update your expectations. The New Moon/Venus also trine Chiron Rx in Aries (5 deg) so the surprise/risk can ultimately give you the courage to face down that pain. If you’ve been holding back or shrinking away from attention, Uranus will accelerate things to the point where you’re pushed forward – there should be relief as you discover that the fear/embarrassment/insecurity is not as overwhelming as you thought. This trine to Chiron is a smooth flow of courage and healing – you can handle this.

Because a hard aspect to Uranus is always a bit jarring, there’s also the chance of a separation or sudden loss. But even if this happens, you’ve got Chiron as assurance that this is ultimately in your best interests. Venus in Leo trine Chiron is the glitter of what’s most desired combined with the courage and empathy to confront what hurts. Maybe this will be about the beauty of being wounded/awkward and deciding to celebrate yourself anyway.

Note that Mercury stations direct in Cancer (ruled by the Moon) on this day as well, at 23 deg. So not only do you have the New Moon’s accelerated push, you have the gift of clarity and progress around an emotional message. Feelings are identified and put into words. The answer arrives, the decision is made. Events may be disruptive but you will not have to make any guesses about what you want to say, or what you want.

It will be so obvious.

July 31st, 2019: Mercury Direct With a Spot of Tension

  • Mercury stations direct (23 deg Cancer)

  • Mars in Leo square Vesta in Taurus (18 deg)

  • Pluto Rx in Capricorn square Pallas in Libra (21 deg)

Mercury

Mercury stationed Rx on July 7th, but on July 31st its retrograde ends at 11:57 PM EDT. Watch for clarity, progress and direct communication of all emotional (Cancer) matters. It should be easier to talk about what you need or make decisions, even if they’re saturated in subjective feelings.

Mars/Vesta

Actions (Mars) based on pride or attention will conflict with the focus (Vesta) on security. You may feel blocked from fully putting yourself out there due to rigid devotion to what’s safe and predictable. Then again, bold (or pushy) actions may conflict with saving money and preserving what’s essential. The solution to this crisis is deciding what’s important to hang onto versus what demands expression or a bit of risk.

Pluto/Pallas

Pallas in Libra is balanced strategies (usually involving a one-on-one relationship) but when she is challenged by Pluto there can be attempts to manipulate that throw off the balance. Consider where there’s pressure find a solution or if you’re obsessing about making it work/winning to the point where you shut things down. The enforced solution doesn’t benefit anyone.

July 30th, 2019: Personal and Sacred

  • Mars in Leo inconjunct Neptune Rx in Pisces (18 deg)

  • Neptune Rx in Pisces sextile Vesta in Taurus (18 deg)

Mars/Neptune shows the incompatibility between actions motivated by pride versus selfless impulses. You may be torn between wanting to push for attention when there’s a niggling suspicion that this isn’t quite enough. This can result in actions that are weakened or based in fantasy (you achieve recognition in your dreams but do nothing in the real world).

As with all inconjuncts, adjustment is key – act in the real world (in a passionate, public way) but don’t ignore the whisper of spirituality/belief. Channeled correctly, this energy is extremely creative, leading to some beautiful efforts that can trigger admiration for you, but also resonate on a purely artistic or spiritual level.

Vesta’s sextile to Neptune can help with the above, as Neptune’s impossible dream is grounded by focus (Vesta) on immediate realities: money, security, preservation. This is about reaching towards the fantasy and integrating it into your life. Vesta is the sacred flame, and Neptune elevates this – basic, physical issues (the body, your money) can become matters of divine focus (your temple) if you sanctify them with your devotion. This will require a willingness to believe that you are not trapped, that you can have more, that your dream can be made real. But also, that your security (and comfort) is pure and non-negotiable. Taurus reminds us that physical pleasure is essential, and there’s no reason why this can’t be sacred.

Both these aspects ask you to consider how you can combine the mundane with the elevated, and the highly subjective with the transpersonal.

July 29th, 2019: Leo Sun Square Uranus

  • Sun in Leo square Uranus in Taurus ( 6 deg)

This is a lead up to the July 31st New Moon. Liberation and clarity can either give you a burst of courage so you really express yourself (in a daring way) or your pride will be seriously shaken: where you thought you were exceptional turns out to be way off the mark. Suddenly, recognition does not matter.

Uranus rules Leo’s opposite sign, so this aspect is about being at the centre in an unusual way, or questioning the value of being at the centre. The outcast celebrity. The king/queen who breaks the rules. Spotlight on eccentricities.

Whichever way this pans out, know that the expected definitions of power will be disrupted. There could be an urge to do something risky as a grab for appreciation. Or, egos could be shaken by radical truths. What you thought was “the best” will be displaced and updated.

Don’t cling to what was – detach (Uranus) from your ego and make room for dramatic new energy. This can aspect can be quite volatile, so others could make bizarrely extreme gestures. Understand that the root is their craving for appreciation and attention, because their old values are collapsing.

If you get the urge to act out, take a minute and consider if you really need to go that far to get attention. Is this a “no going back” scenario? Or, is it time to toss a bomb into the works and see what happens?
