Uranus/Pluto: The Freelance Economy

When Pluto entered the sign of Capricorn in 2008, there was a huge contraction in the business world as well as a global recession, and many people lost their jobs.  Pluto creates major shifts in the affairs of the sign through which it travels, and Capricorn is the sign of the structures that create the foundation on which we live.  Corporations, governments, economic structures – all of these are under Capricorn’s domain. In 2009, Entrepreneur magazine ran this article: When the economic sky fell last year and CEOs and workers […]

This New Moon in Cancer, June 2014

The New Moon in Cancer takes place at 4:08 am on June 27th – the beginning of a new lunar cycle that takes us into a journey of exploration into the ways in which we connect with the people around us. The sign Cancer brings us in touch with our family roots, but “family” can be defined in many different ways.  Most narrowly, “family” is defined as a group of related individuals living in a household together.  But family is widely defined as “a group of people sharing a common […]

Astrodynamics feed issues

If you have been a subscriber to this blog for over a year, you may have stopped receiving new posts in your email box. Mercury retrograde is a great time to look over your blog and see where there are errors, and in doing this I discovered that most of my feed subscribers use Feedburner, but Feedburner stopped picking up the new posts.  Meanwhile I had switched to Feedblitz but only new subscribers are on that platform. In any event, no matter which service you use you should now receive all of […]

Personal thoughts on the sign Cancer

The Sun moved into Cancer at the Summer Solstice, and I have been thinking a lot about that sign.  I have a client who used to say “don’t call me a cancer!!” so I am now very politically correct, calling people born under that sign “Cancerians” rather than “Cancers.”  And this is somewhat representative of the Cancerian sensitivity. I was raised in a family of Cancerians.  My sister and my mother share the same birthday (or did up until my mother’s death in 2012) in the early degrees of Cancer.  My […]

Gun-nuttery and revolution with Uranus in Aries

More than any other sign, Aries is associated with warfare.  Ruled by the planet Mars (Mars is the Roman name for the god of war – Ares was his Greek counterpart, Aries is assertive, energetic, and generally doesn’t like to back down from a fight.  Uranus is the planet of rebellion, independence, freedom and liberation.  It’s not a surprise then that the passage of Uranus in Aries (since 2010) has brought with it a huge wave of rebellion against gun laws among gun aficionados in the United States. As soon […]

Sunday Poetry for the Summer Solstice

Midsummer by JT Midsummer — Longest day Shortest night Longest light Shortest dark The world within Echoes the world without Lush foliage, leaves unfurled Soft springy grass dotted with Brightly colored flowers peeping through The earth is green and bright With warm sunny days Clear velvety blue skies Gentle cool breezes Nature in glory Our hopes blossom Creativity flowers With the season The seeds of the fruit Our desires will bear Can be seen On the stems Of our dreams

Summer Solstice: The Turning of the Wheel

Gorgeous art by Lynn Fogel While custom dictates the Northern Hemisphere celebration of the Summer Solstice and the first day of Summer on June 21st, the use of the tropical zodiac places the entry of the Sun into the sign of Cancer on the longest day of the year. Cancer is one of the “cardinal” signs – the signs that are directed towards action and leadership.  Each of the cardinal signs marks the turning of the seasons: from the Summer in Cancer we move into the Autumn of Libra, followed […]

The Uranian world of Henry Miller

Thanks to my friends at Astrococktail for the link to this interesting article about writer Henry Miller. Miller was the author of several books that were shocking for their times (the Tropic of Cancer and Tropic of Capricorn were written in the 1930s and banned for many years.  When I was in high school in the mid-1960s they were published in the US for the first time.  Miller is also famed for his relationship with fellow writer Anais Nin who is best known for her works of erotica.  His marriage to […]
