Overall, it’s not a bad week… but it’s a weird one for those of you seeking to improve your romantic prospects, with Venus in Leo taking center stage between two aspects that are probably best described as “damned odd.” But hey — you wanted something boring and predictable, love-life-wise? In order to make sense of what’s happening to Venus this week, we need to discuss a rather awkward subject. No, not sex… the quincunx. Yes I know, if you’re unfamiliar with the term, it does sound a little bit dirty. It’s not. It’s weird. The quincunx is when two planets are joined by an aspect where each planet is in a sign that has absolutely nothing in common with the other one: not an element, not a modality, not any other description you can think of. Imagine one of those student driver cars with dual controls, and you and a complete stranger are each trying to get to two different places, and neither of you speak the same language. And you’re in an unfamiliar city. That’s the situation Venus faces throughout the week as it experiences a quincunx to Neptune on Tuesday and another quincunx to Pluto on Saturday.<\/b><\/p>\n
On the face of it, Venus and Neptune have a lot in common. Both are often focused on high emotional goals and have the potential for self-sacrifice in the name of a good cause. Sounds a lot like love, doesn’t it? The problem here is that when you consider the very practical side of Venus (the love of comfort and the urge for literal or figurative sweetness) and the very impractical side of Neptune (a tendency to vanish down an idealistic or delusional rabbit hole), it’s easy to see how when the two planets join forces you can end up with a well-meaning disaster. So this week, make sure you look before you leap into a new relationship.<\/p>\n
On the other hand, Venus and Pluto are quite different, but that’s not always a bad thing. Just as Venus and Mars are very different and yet both are required to maintain a physical relationship, Venus-Pluto aspects can be pretty constructive for your emotional life. The problem arises when the admittedly self-absorbed nature of Venus is combined with the potentially explosive and destructive force of Pluto. Remember last paragraph when I urged you to look before you leap? Yeah, it’s going to be really hard to avoid leaping this week, especially on the weekend.
