Six months ago, during\u00a0the the Pisces-Libra eclipses, something shifted in\u00a0my consciousness\u00a0and my sensitivity gates opened up with great, brutal force. As the song for Empaths goes, \u201cAnything you can feel, I can feel stronger. Anything you can hear, I can hear more\u201d.<\/em>\u00a0Empathy is \u201cfeeling and understanding emotions that aren\u2019t yours,\u201d and while I can do that, too,\u00a0my bigger challenge has been\u00a0environmental, collective. I began feeling I was living on an exposed cliff on a windy day where the weather of collective angst, fear and anxiety blew directly into\u2026Me.<\/span><\/p>\n I\u2019ve always been \u201cempathic\u201d but now I\u2019m a full-fledged Empath. When fear, anxiety, hostility, aggression touches me, I feel it all. Like the Virgo story of the sensitive Princess and the Pea, I feel the pea, no matter how many or how soft the mattresses. Frankly, it\u2019s been terrifying, at times, fielding so much harsh energy, all at once (Pluto has been squaring my Moon and ASC-DSC axis).<\/p>\n Is it surprising I feel this way? In the US, people are in fear about what\u2019s happening politically, socially. When there\u2019s a direct stimulus, like a violent person or a bounced rent check, fear is a natural normal response that mobilizes us to take action, but when fear and survival is \u201cin the air\u201d, when people are ungrounded, uncertain and spinning out into anxiety so much, life can become a downright nightmare for the Empath.\u00a0Navigating this\u00a0has been my\u00a0pressing spiritual issue.<\/p>\n I\u2019ve had to get tools, mentors and acquire new skills.\u00a0<\/strong>I\u2019ve learned there are no mental shields, no magical techniques, no special crystal to keep negativity out of my energy body. But when I understand that this is temporary, that feelings are\u00a0no deeper than superficial dirt on my skin, I can wash them\u00a0off. I’ve gotten very serious\u00a0about remaining conscious and clear, but, paradoxically,\u00a0the less life or death serious I am (it has felt\u00a0that way), the better I fare (natal Pluto is in my twelfth house). I’ve learned: I don\u2019t have to get pulled into the drama of believing any reality can hurt me more than a schoolyard scrape. I can still be at the circus, and enjoy the cute monkeys, when I don\u2019t give the scary-looking clowns authority.<\/p>\n This Virgo New Moon Eclipse makes contact with the final pass of the Saturn-Neptune square. Over the course of this square, we\u2019ve met with chaos, uncertainty, fear, self-doubt and disarray in our own ways. We\u2019ve each met the scary circus clowns, only to\u00a0discover they are an illusion.<\/strong> We\u2019ve watched old lives and foundations crumble, old\u00a0dreams\u00a0get pulled out to sea. We\u2019ve been challenged, if not found it impossible, to do what Virgo does best\u2013 identify what\u2019s broken and fix it. Maybe we feel so disillusioned, we feel done. Astraea, Virgo\u2019s Goddess, the last immortal who came to Earth, took a look at humanity\u2019s corruption, wickedness and high-tailed it out of here. Even Goddesses want to flee from time to time!<\/p>\n Under the influences of the mutable\u00a0signs\u00a0(Gem, Virgo, Sag, Pisces) \u00a0we have been in the classroom\u00a0of\u00a0learning and adaptation\u2013<\/em>\u00a0we\u2019ve needed to think fast on our feet, to change with the changing tides, let go of what isn’t working and\u00a0adapt to new circumstances… because that guarantees our survival. The\u00a0Saturn-Neptune square<\/a> began in November 2015 and ends September 10, 2016. Think about where this is transiting your chart.\u00a0What have the mutables been teaching\u00a0you?<\/strong><\/p>\n During Virgo season, like Astraea, we tend to turn a critical eye on all the ways our personal and collective world is broken, all the things that need fixing, improving. Unlike her, we are human, and we have a role to play. We are in Earth School for a reason. No matter how difficult, we are meant to be here right now. Believing anything other than that keeps us in\u00a0fearful retreat and hiding.<\/p>\n Saturn in Sagittarius\u2019 square\u00a0points to the necessity taking a\u00a0look\u00a0at our beliefs\u00a0to see if\u00a0they help or hinder us.<\/strong> I\u2019ve needed to look at my beliefs about the feelings that hit me with the force of a 2\u00d74. I can feel a\u00a0heavy grief\u00a0on my\u00a0heart, lurch of fear in my stomach, the flutter of anxiety\u2026\u00a0but that does that mean the feelings are\u00a0mine? Are they real? Convincing as they are,\u00a0no and no.\u00a0Other people’s feelings cannot hurt me. Feelings are temporary, and cannot hurt me.<\/p>\n Here’s the ultimate freedom: We each get to choose what reality we believe in. Do\u00a0the truths on which we base our most important beliefs contain anything other than beauty, kindness and compassion? Do material values ever trump spiritual ones, despite what we see?\u00a0Is life, and the people and players in it, bad just because it doesn\u2019t feel good right now? Is it real just because I feel it?<\/em><\/p>\n Life doesn\u2019t feel good all the time. Some of the time it feels pretty bad. That\u2019s by design.\u00a0Life is an experience- it may feel good or bad- but it is just an experience.<\/strong>\u00a0As we\u00a0navigate this shifting paradigm we need all hands on deck. That means keeping our feet on the ground, our hands on the wheel, and not checking out- through apathy, retreating in overwhelm\/fear, or self-righteousness and anger.<\/p>\n It\u2019s Virgo season. Earth School is in session.\u00a0What small, practical step\u00a0will help you move from uncertainty\u00a0and chaos,\u00a0into surety and a sense of competence?<\/strong> We may need mentors, meditation, to clean up our diet, website, or organize our junk drawer (because, in a moment of overwhelm, taking a\u00a0single decisive action can make a world of difference in our mental state). Under Virgo, it\u2019s good to look\u00a0at your daily habits. With Neptune\u2019s opposition, we may need to see where we\u2019ve been in chaos, or \u201cchecking out\u201d with escapist tendencies- from\u00a0social networking to\u00a0substances,\u00a0food or fantasizing about a problem-free shangri-la.<\/p>\n Notice what this New Moon Eclipse stimulates in your chart. This area of your life has now entered\u00a0accelerated growth.\u00a0 The solar eclipse can act like a deep cleaning vacuum, clearing out\u00a0debris and misunderstanding\u2026so the universe\u00a0can deliver brand new \u201cexperiences\u201d designed especially for your learning, and your learning only. Eclipses can\u00a0bring\u00a0wake-up calls, which if answered, could\u00a0catapult you light years\u00a0forward. Six months from now you could be in an entirely new space.<\/p>\n Ultimately, this New Moon can catapult you into a new relationship to your consciousness. The smallest shifts in perception, belief and habit can make a\u00a0dramatic difference.<\/strong> My biggest leap involved\u00a0all three.\u00a0Feeling other people\u2019s pain\u00a0and fear\u00a0isn\u2019t scary when I\u00a0believe<\/em>\u00a0(Sag) and know<\/em>\u00a0(Pisces) it\u00a0cannot hurt me–which has helped\u00a0my new habit, of being super-conscious\u00a0of energy, keep me centered, no matter what. Your journey isn\u2019t\u00a0the same as mine, but if I can learn\u00a0to see\u00a0through\u00a0fear (Saturn) and illusion (Neptune), so can you.
