{"id":63954,"date":"2014-05-15T16:31:11","date_gmt":"2014-05-15T16:31:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/theinnerwheel.com\/?p=3180"},"modified":"2014-05-15T16:31:11","modified_gmt":"2014-05-15T16:31:11","slug":"so-much-more-than-mother","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/astrologyblogger.com\/?p=63954","title":{"rendered":"So Much More than Mother"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/theinnerwheel.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Olds.png\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3183\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/theinnerwheel.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Olds.png?resize=305%2C165\" alt=\"Olds\" width=\"305\" height=\"165\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve been so immersed in the concept of the Dark Goddess lately, and the way the four major asteroids help us to negotiate the world, that it shouldn&#8217;t have surprised me that\u00a0a synchronicity would show itself.\u00a0 I moved my office from the second floor to the ground floor recently in order to literally get more light (more metaphoric light wouldn&#8217;t hurt, either).\u00a0 In cleaning out the old den, a poem that I wrote for my mother back in 1988 emerged from the rubble.\u00a0\u00a0 I&#8217;ve never shared it with anyone outside the family, but as a tribute to my mother I&#8217;m putting it up in honor of the holiday.\u00a0 It isn&#8217;t elegant or sophisticated, but it&#8217;s genuine.\u00a0 For me, it goes deep.\u00a0 I still vividly remember that long-ago\u00a0feeling of being liberated, and still have the thrill of it from time to time.\u00a0 That&#8217;s a Moon\/Uranus conjunction for you.\u00a0 The need for freedom is deeply entrenched.<\/p>\n<p>As someone who doesn&#8217;t have children, I&#8217;ve always felt that Mother&#8217;s Day was about so much more than motherhood.\u00a0 Not to take anything away from the mothers who feed us and clothe us and sacrifice for us and go beyond what is humanly possible in order to keep us alive and balanced and on the right road.\u00a0 But it seems to me that Mother&#8217;s Day is also about guidance and fortitude and living by example.\u00a0 A celebration of all the potential and possibilities ahead of us and the lengths we go to nurture them.\u00a0 About the strength\u00a0it takes to make\u00a0the un-manifest, manifest, which is all about the power of the sign Cancer.<\/p>\n<p>So in tribute to the goddesses and to my Mom, Stella, and for all of us who have struggled to be free,\u00a0an old poem about an earlier time.<\/p>\n<h2>Volare<\/h2>\n<p>The woman with the long brown ponytail pulled tight,<\/p>\n<p>Flicking cigarette butts through the window<\/p>\n<p>Of an Oldsmobile convertible in nineteen sixty-three<\/p>\n<p>Taught me freedom.<\/p>\n<p>I am six. And we ride<\/p>\n<p>This blue-white stallion down<\/p>\n<p>The highways.
