Gift-giver Jupiter dives into Cancer<\/a> on June 25 for a long stay (until July 16, 2014). The planet of expansion, optimism and opportunity will bring his goodies to the sign of feelings, domesticity and mothering. This is a hopeful transit for relationships, especially if you have children, want children or are interested in boosting the level of emotion in your life. Yes, this influence can fill your cup to overflowing<\/b>. However, Jupiter expands everything<\/em>\u00a0he touches, including existing challenges. So there’s a chance that this transit will bring some hassles before you get to the good stuff.<\/p>\n

For couples that have children, this influence might increase their awareness of their needs (as individuals, or as a couple) versus their children’s needs. As I mentioned in the first paragraph, Jupiter will expand what’s already there, so any existing issues with the kids will be magnified. Partners may discover that they need more couple time, or their kids may start exploring their independence in earnest. An older child could move out, but it’s also possible for an adult child to move back in (Jupiter can literally bring “more” to the household, especially if he’s moving through your 4th House of Home and Family).<\/p>\n

In all scenarios involving children, feelings and demands can become overwhelming. Jupiter’s energy can push you to give more than you have. In Cancer, this could translate to mainlining all your energy into your kids (or domestic\u00a0responsibilities), and leaving nothing for your partner. Jupiter’s rush can make you feel omnipotent (especially if he hits your natal planets with a hard aspect), but in reality there are still limits on how much you can do. While circumstances may call for you to give more under this influence, remember to leave something for your partner. And yourself. For relationships in general (whether or not children are involved) expect childhood\/mother issues to come up. If your relationship already has a parental vibe to it (one partner babies the other) this transit could intensify it. Helplessness and neediness can bubble over in one partner, while the other feels overwhelmed and unable to cope. If this happens, know that what’s bubbling up is based in childhood. Jupiter in Cancer will churn up the past, so view any intensified demands in this context. Partners are not parents.<\/b><\/p>\n

Cancer’s biggest challenge is self-sufficiency, so if you find yourself demanding more from your lover, explore ways in which you might meet your own needs. Whether this involves taking an emotional risk (by putting yourself out there) or simply being kind to yourself, positive energy attracts positive people. The risk with this transit lies in overwhelming someone else with your newly enhanced expectations. Or promising to give more than you’re able to. Always keep the boundaries in mind. You’re most likely to feel Jupiter’s impact in your love life if he moves through your 1st, 4th, 5th or 7th House, or aspects your natal Sun, Moon, Venus or the ruler of your 7th House.<\/p>\n
