Let\u2019s talk about marriage. Y\u2019all are married, right? I hear a few voices protesting that you\u2019re barely dating; you\u2019re staying sexy and single; the only vow you\u2019ll make is to remain unattached and unencumbered by white picket fences. <\/p>\n

Whatever. Everyone is married in some way, shape or form to something. You\u2019re married to an idea or a principle. You\u2019re married to a certain way of doing things. You\u2019re married to a beloved project that you\u2019re trying to keep airborne. The list goes on\u2026<\/p>\n

Any successful and thriving marriage requires a delicate m\u00e9lange of thrills, chills and even a few spills. Those spills offer the most valuable lessons in where you can afford to give ground, or where you need to dig your heels in and hold strong. <\/p>\n

If whatever it is that you are symbolically married to does not thrill you, what\u2019s the point, dude? Let it go; holding on to a principle that chokes you does not make you a hero. And if it doesn\u2019t chill you—scare you a little because it\u2019s big—then you may be nestled too comfortably in your pretty cage. If you don\u2019t occasionally have a spill or mishap, maybe you\u2019re holding the reins a bit too tight to experiment.<\/p>\n
